Pine Street Elementary School
Principal's Update
Welcome to Pine Street Elementary! If you are returning to the school, we are thrilled to welcome you back, and a huge Pine Street welcome to our many new families as well. The staff are excited about beginning the new school year and are looking forward to working with you and your children. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you and your children during the school year. By working together, we can ensure that our students, your children receive an excellent education and have a wonderful experience during their time at Pine Street Elementary.
We have had a busy summer with our custodian and teachers getting the school ready for the return of students. We have had a little bit of construction going on through the summer helping us update our building. Everything has been cleaned and the classrooms have been organized to get ready for students.
The start of a school year is an exciting time for children! Teachers are also thrilled to see their students and are looking forward to an amazing year of learning. We are looking to forge new friendships, meet new classmates and teachers, and have a great year. Pine Street Elementary is a safe and caring learning community that values parental input. We work together with our families to make sure we are making the best educational decisions for students. Teachers will keep you informed of classroom activities and write classroom newsletters regularly. Bi-weekly, the Bears Blogs are sent from the office with overall school news, events, and important dates. As well, please feel free to phone or email your child’s teacher to share your ideas on how to best help your child succeed or with any ideas for their classroom. Thank you for partnering with us to make Pine Street Elementary such a wonderful place to learn, grow and prepare student to have amazing futures.
We would also like to encourage all our parents to be part of our Pine Street School Advisory Council. All parents are part of this parent group and are welcome to attend the SAC meetings to share in the development of School Advisory Council business, fundraising or just sharing how to make our school a better place.
I look forward to meeting all of you. If you have any questions or ideas you would like to discuss, please feel free to call me at the school or schedule an appointment. Again, welcome to Pine Street Elementary and thank you for entrusting your children to us! I am looking forward to having a great year of learning and success. School Bus App - My Ride K-12
Parents/guardians and students can access their bus stop location, route and pickup time on the Traversa My Ride K-12™ website and mobile app. My Ride K-12 uses GPS technology to track the bus and show the location and time a student scans on and off the bus with a bus pass. Students, parents/guardians and Student Transportation staff are the only ones who can view this information as needed.
Update your PowerSchool information
The EIPS Correction and Verification Form is available online through your PowerSchool Parent Portal—at the top of the left-hand menu. Use the form to access and update your child’s records information—including address, parent and guardian information, emergency contacts and medical information. Reviewing the form and submitting updates ensures the school has the most up-to-date information regarding your child.
When reviewing the form, pay close attention to all listed phone numbers, email addresses and emergency contact information. Also, if you recently moved, now is the time to ensure the Division has your updated address. Throughout the year, the Division and school use the listed information to communicate with families about important information, including updates, the latest news and events. PowerSchool Correction and Verification Form. Review and update the form by Sept. 25, 2024
If you have questions about the form or your Parent Portal account, contact the school office at 780-467-2246.

Emergency Drills
Practicing emergency drills is an integral part of school safety and being properly prepared for emergencies. As the school year begins, we will begin our emergency drills to ensure all students and staff are safe in the event an incident happens at or near the school. Over the next couple of weeks and months, we will practice the Emergency Evacuation (Fire), Bus Evacuation, Shelter-in-Place, On Alert, Hold and Secure, and Lockdown drills. Therefore, it is likely your child will come home from school explaining they rehearsed some important emergency drills. Staff and students will be notified these drills are in fact drills and not a real situation. In the event an actual emergency occurs, you will be contacted by the school. If you have any questions about the drills, please feel free to contact Mrs. Rachelle Gagnon, assistant principal.
