Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Our 12 Days of Christmas kicks off this week on Monday, December 4, with Jersey Day! We’re excited to celebrate the holiday season together with activities that bring fun, creativity, and learning to life. Our Christmas Concert is on December 12 at 7:00 PM, doors open at 6:30 PM. Be sure to review the important dates to stay informed about upcoming events.
On December 3, our junior high students will spend the entire day in the CTF lab, diving into hands-on projects and tackling problem-solving challenges with various materials. It promises to be an exciting and enriching day, filled with creativity, collaboration, and skill-building. A big thank you to Mr. K for organizing this fantastic opportunity for our students!
Report cards will be sent home with students on Thursday, December 5. Please note, this will be the final time report cards are printed. Starting in Term 2, report cards will be accessible online through the Parent Portal. We’ll use the coming months to ensure families have the correct login information and a smooth transition to the online system.
A reminder that there is no school for students on Friday, December 6, as it is a professional development day for staff.
Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Northside Motor Sports and Linda Auriat for their generous donation to our school. Your support makes a big difference in our students’ educational experience!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Bailey Benson

Learning in Action
Multiplication Ice Cream Party
The Grade 4/5 class worked hard to master their multiplication facts and earned a sweet reward for their efforts—an ice cream party! Each fact they mastered unlocked new ice cream options and toppings, motivating the students to push their math skills to the next level. From a basic bowl to a fully-loaded sundae bar, the more they practiced, the more delicious their reward became. Their hard work and determination paid off, creating a fun and tasty celebration of their mathematical success!
Story Writing
The Grade 2/3 class has been honing their storytelling skills, focusing on crafting exciting beginnings, planning intriguing problems, and developing thoughtful solutions. This week, their hard work came to life as they shared their stories with a partner, showcasing their creativity and imagination. It was a joy to see their unique ideas come together in engaging tales, and they were proud to share their writing progress with one another!
The Rock Cycle
The Grade 4s have been exploring the rock cycle in a deliciously creative way—using chocolate! They shaved chocolate into "sediment" to represent weathering, then applied heat to melt it, mimicking the formation of igneous rocks. This hands-on activity brought the rock cycle to life, helping students understand complex processes in a fun and tasty way!
Math Games
The Grade 2/3 class put their math skills to the test this week by working in groups to play an exciting math game. Using dice and their understanding of addition and subtraction with larger numbers, they competed to close the "math gap."
PE & Math Combine
The Grade 2/3 class took creativity and math to the gym this week by designing their own fun games in PE! After rolling dice to determine how much they earned for each participant, they collected their "earnings" using based ten blocks. Back in the classroom, students counted up their totals and practiced exchanging ten ten-frames for a hundred square. This hands-on activity was a fantastic way to combine physical activity with a visual and interactive approach to understanding numbers!
Mixing Colors
Watercolor Painting
The Grade 2/3 class explored their artistic side this week by using watercolor paints to create stunning background scenes. This hands-on art activity allowed them to experiment with blending colors and techniques, resulting in vibrant and unique masterpieces!
Ice Sculptures
The Grade 4/5 class combined art and science this week by freezing colored water to create beautiful ice sculptures. Once frozen, they used the colorful ice blocks to assemble creative and unique sculptures, experimenting with balance and design. It was a chilly but exciting way to explore art and engineering in a hands-on activity!
