CES Happenings
Dear CES Family,
Another good week is in the books and April is just around the corner! Amazing. Several things for you in this edition of the newsletter:
- We had an amazing assembly for our fourth, fifth and sixth grade students today. Our presenter, Duncan Kirkwood, is a international motivational speaker and his topic centered around unleashing perseverance, passion and purpose. Pretty impactful time with the kids.
- Read-A-Thon - It dawned on me that I forgot to let you know the final results of our Read-A-Thon. It was another amazing finish. Our students, and families, raised a really impressive $8,296! Our top reader, Mason Gedaria, read an incredible 915 minutes. THANK YOU to all of you, once again, for your incredible support.
- TK/K Round-Up - It's that time! April 24, 9:00-11:00 in the CES gym. See flyer below for more information
- Fingerprinting - One of the new requirements for parents driving on field trips is that they need to be fingerprinted if they are driving other students. A good idea, but potentially a big inconvenience for parents since we live in Chester. Our district office offered to send over two DOJ-certified employees this past week to help us out. We put out the call (thanks to Mrs. Gerbatz and Mrs. Peterson) and many of you responded...45 of you, actually, and everyone showed up. Incredible. Once again, thanks very much for taking the time to come on campus and make this happen. Grateful!
- Last thing: April 11 is currently scheduled as a vacation day assuming that we have no school closures between now and April 10. You never know, something might happen, like having the power go out. :)
A great weekend to all of you.
Sincerely,
Scott Cory

Instructional Calendars
For those of you who like to plan stuff way in advance (you know who you are), click here to access the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 PUSD Instructional Calendars. We ask that you please consider planning family vacations to coincide with non-school days. It makes a huge difference in your child's education. Thank you!
PUSD Budget Deficit
There has been a lot of talk about the fiscal status of the Plumas Unified School District, and with good reason. As a result, you may have an interest in attending and or participating in school board meetings either in person or via Zoom. Please click on the QR code for both locations and instructions on how to access meetings via Zoom, along with the agenda for each meeting of the Board of Education for PUSD.
