Mānawatia a Matariki
No school tomorrow - public holiday
Tomorrow is Matariki which is a public holiday. All schools around New Zealand will not be open. We look forward to seeing you all again on Monday. Have an enjoyable 3 day weekend.
Term 2 Report Information
You will have received 4 Seesaw posts from your child's teacher showing the amazing work they have done this year. Accompanying these posts are comments about their progress and achievement for reading, writing, maths, as well as a general comment relating to their attitude, behaviour and showing our school values. Please feel free to comment on these posts - your child and teacher will also be able to read them, and it is another great chance to let them know how proud of them you are.
HPP Reading Programme
We’re hoping to get our HPP reading programme up and running in Term 3, and are looking for volunteers to come in and read to some of our younger students. This programme involves choosing a picture book ahead of time, reading to and talking about the book with the student you are assigned to. The goal is to improve oral language and comprehension, and support a love for reading.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and have a little time available during school hours, please contact Whaea Gina - gway@westend.school.nz
Volunteers will need to participate in a short training and orientation session, and pass a police check.
Senior Camp
Children come to school in the PJ's. A change of clothes can be brought, especially if they are playing on the field.
TIPURANGA
Room 16
PUAWAITANGA
Room 7 had the pleasure of having Whaea Kat come in to weave some harakeke flowers. We learned some information about flax, the tools that Whaea Kat uses for preparing harakeke. We even got the see some of the awesome kete that Whaea Kat made.
Thank you for helping us learn to weave Whaea Kat.

A lot of sickness around!
A huge thank you to those who are messaging in to the office to let us know their child is unwell and unable to come to school. It makes Amanda and Sue's job a lot easier! A reminder that if your child is unwell, please keep them at home so they don't get other children and our staff sick. Thank you for your kotahitanga and manaakitanga around this!
If your child is absent from school.
It is really important under the current circumstances you notify the school if your child is absent.
PLEASE DO NOT TXT OR EMAIL THE CLASSROOM TEACHER.
ALL ABSENCES SHOULD BE ADVISED VIA THE OFFICE.
Please remember to advise the office by 8.30am if your child is not attending school.
You can telephone 358-2465 and leave a message or txt 021 118 0156.
ABSENCES CAN ALSO BE SENT EASILY THROUGH OUR SCHOOL APP
In both cases please give a reason for absence.
Thank you.
