The ROAR
No.1 August 20, 2023
Opening Week 2023
This year we have 260 students!
The growth in enrollment has led to CCS expanding campuses. We are now in two locations. Students in PreK through 6th grade attend classes at the Beech Avenue main campus. Students in grades 7-12 are temporarily meeting at Desperation Church, but will soon be at the Depot Park campus (Desperation's former location) after renovations.
Classes this year include: 3 preschool classes, 11 elementary classes, and 6 upper school classrooms. Students participate in courses such as Christian studies, physical education, logic, music, art, Latin, chorus, piano and guitar, drama, photography, and ACT prep.
God has blessed our school tremendously! We are praying and trusting that He will continue to bless and provide for our school as we train up our students to serve Him.

Open House Events
Thank you to everyone who came out to our Open House events! This is a great way to get the year started right. Students and parents enjoy meeting teachers and visiting classrooms.
Teacher Inservice
Each year CCS teachers meet together to prepare for the year before the students return. This preparation involves academic planning, logistical work, but most importantly, a time to focus on remembering they teach.
God has blessed CCS with an amazing faculty and staff! Each of them have been working to prepare for students to enter their classrooms where they hope to encourage them as they grow in knowledge and in their personal relationships with God.
SEPTEMBER HOT LUNCH ORDERS
Orders must be completed by the August 24th.
All orders must be placed online.
YOUTH VOLLEYBALL
We are so excited to have our first ever youth volleyball teams at CCS!
The girls had their first games on Saturday, August 19th. They will have several more playdates for the season. Coaches have specific information for each team. Some of the upcoming dates include:
- August 26th at Cold Springs
- September 2nd at Good Hope
- September 9th at Vinemont
- September 16th at Hanceville
- September 23rd at West Point
- September 30th at Fairview
PTF Bake Sale
On the Beech Ave Campus, each class will have a seperate time to shop. On the DC Campus volunteers will bring over options for break or lunch.
PTF will only take cash. We have asked parents that are donating baked goods to label things with nuts. If you have a student with an allergy, please be sure to alert the parents that the bake sale is coming up. Many allergy families will chose to send their child a special snack as opposed to letting them purchase one.
LEARN THE DOXOLOGY
If you would like to help your child learn the words to the Doxology or you would like to sing along with us, see the lyrics below.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him all creatures here below.
Praise Him above ye heavenly host.
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Amen

It sure is hot outside! We are so thankful to have an air conditioned gym! Each day students spend time with Coach Mo, Mrs. Nikki, and Coach Cydney to exercise and stay in shape.

We are so excited about the addition of art classes for our CCS students! Each week they will grow their creativity as they participate in visual and musical arts.

The lunch area on the Beech Avenue campus is packed! Don't worry. If you are a parent that would like to visit your child for lunch, we will squeeze you in. It might be in another area or at the picnic tables, but we will make it work.
First Week Exhaustion
The first week of school is always hard! We hope that you take some time this weekend to catch up on some rest. This week will be a full 5-day week.
Upper School Helpers
Community Prayer
On August 6th, CCS parents, friends, and community members visited the Beech Avenue campus to pray over the school for the 2023-24 school year. This is the BEST way to start the year! We are thankful to everyone who came out.
Cullman Electric Round Up Grants
Each month the Cullman Electric Coop opens grant opportunities for teachers to apply for needed classroom supplies. Last year many of our CCS teachers received a grant. We are incredibly thankful for this resource in our community!
Holiday Themed Practice
Sometimes you just need to be silly! The volleyball team enjoyed some laughs as they kicked off their first full practice with a dress up theme.
Senior Parking Spaces
Class of 2024 seniors worked hard to design and paint their senior parking spaces.
4th-6th Grade Lockers
Classes for students in grades 4-6 look a little different this year! These students will be rotating classes to three different teachers each day. Each of the students has a locker in their homeroom class to help them stay organized.
Super Troopers
The upper school faculty and staff are real troopers as they have worked to prepare classes in a new kind of way. This year, as we hold classes in a temporary rental location, they will face the challenge of moving and packing twice each week. God has truly blessed us through Desperation Church to have a location that has allowed us to expand our enrollment!
Moving In and Out
Each week upper school students and staff will be moving tables and chairs to set up and take down classrooms. This is quite a challenge, but everyone has handled it great!
Afternoon Car Line
Wow! Afternoon car line is crazy, but everyone is doing an amazing job! Each day students in lower school line up in the lobby and are called by name to load at the front door.
October ACT at CCS
Seniors at CCS will be taking the ACT on October 31, 2023 as a part of their required school assessment.
Students in Grades 9-11 may participate in the exam for $68.
