From Mr Will
Welcome to Week 6, now that is a little hard to say! How can we be in Week 6 already?! We have been so busy at Holy Spirit, if you get a chance, come and see the progress in our KPP Playground, it looks amazing!
Vision for Learning Progress Update
As you may have seen displayed in our boards around the school, we have completed our Vision for Learning. Our Vision gives us an aspirational target of how we want to facilitate Teaching and Learning at Holy Spirit. As part of this process, we conducted a ‘learning audit’ in Term 1 led by our Curriculum Coordinator Tiana Sgambelluri.
As part of this audit, Tiana spoke with all teaching staff about what works well in our classrooms at Holy Spirit and where we can look to add value. She also created a Vision ‘look like’ document which highlights how the vision can be made reality in our classes.
Following Term 1’s work, we have identified key priorities, which were presented to our staff earlier this term. Our first priorities for action are to
Create a K-2 Philosophy linked with a Literacy Review.
Review our 4-6 Reading Program
We are also conducting Learning Sprints (which is a fancy word for trailing) the High Impact Teaching Strategy of Daily Reviews. Daily reviews are short sharp learning reviews (8 minutes on average) of concepts that have already been taught with the aim of transferring these concepts to long term memory.
Elastik
Coupled with this work was a priority to leverage our data in school decision making. As a result of this we have introduced a data analysis program called Elastik. Elastik uses standardised and ongoing testing data to highlight learning gaps, the power of Elastik is that is also provides targeted activities (called Gap reviews) that can fill these conceptual learning gaps and post assessment to see if the review activity has been successful. The implementation of this program is a huge leap forward in how we handle data in our school.
Learning at Holy Spirit is in an exciting place, our staff are consistent in their mindset and our Vision for Learning has provided us with a clear path forward for growth and development. I must continually sing the praises of our staff, who work so hard for the benefit of our students. There is so much more to come, and I will keep you all updated as we progress.
Reports
Once per semester, students from PP-6 are issued with a Formal Report. It is important to remember that this is just one way that we display effort and achievement throughout the year. Reporting information are governed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA). The reports this year will change slightly in the comments section. We are moving to a one comment report, which will be in the General Comment section. This comment will touch on the areas of English and Mathematics and provide goals or areas of focus for the following semester. The comment will also speak about the social and emotional development of your child and how they display these skills in the classroom or playground. This change brings our reports into alignment with like schools and satisfies the standards set by SCSA. As always, if your child is not achieving a satisfactory grade within their year level, our teachers will make contact with you. During this time, students on Individual Education Plans will also be updated and communicated with parents/guardians.
Non-Teaching Staff Thank you
It is with great pleasure that I bring your attention to our Non-Teaching Staff. These are our wonderful Office and Educational Assistant Staff. This week we are honouring these staff members by saying thank you for all their hard work across our school. There are literally hundreds of jobs that are completed in schools every day and so many of these are completed by our Office and Educational Assistant staff. They are so integral to the smooth operations of our school and creating the welcoming and supportive atmosphere that Holy Spirit is known for. If you see one of our Non-Teaching Staff, please extend your thanks to them.
Enrolments Pre Kindy 2025 and Kindergarten 2026 and Welcome Kath!
We are currently enrolling for 2025 Pre Kindy and 2026 Kindergarten. As you may know our process is to offer a place for 4 Year Old Kindergarten with the option of 3 Year Old Kindergarten. Therefore you do not need to enrol twice, as was the previous procedure.
Our 2026 cohort is filling fast, so please let your friends/relatives know so they can enrol. 2025 Kindergarten is full with a considerable waiting list.

KPP Playground Progress!
Library Reminders
Just a friendly reminder to please check shelves and under beds for library books and home readers that your child has borrowed and has yet to return. We would love to be able to send these home with other students. We would also please ask you to support your child to bring a library bag for book borrowing as this prevents confusion and protects our library collection.

Before/After School and Vacation Care
Holy Spirit is delighted to offer Before and After School Child Care through Quest Early Learning.
When: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
Times and Cost:
- $30.00 for before school care which operates from the Art classroom between 7am and 8:45am
- $41.70 for after school care which operates from the school hall between 2:50pm and 6pm Mondays to Fridays
Years: Kindy to Year 6
(Children can attend in the calendar year providing they are due to turn four by 30th June)
For students in Kindy and Pre-primary, OSHC staff will drop off/pick up at the classrooms as per our school policy.

We understand that not everyone can make it to the shop during opening hours, however
WE KINDLY ASK THAT YOU DO NOT ENTER THE UNIFORM SHOP WITHOUT PERMISSION.
Even if the door is unlocked, please speak with the front office before entering the store.
We welcome your donations to sell at the shop. Please just drop them at the office.
