Welcome To The Perry Team!
We are excited to announce that Ms. Emma Yagaloff will be joining us as our new K0 / K1 teacher in September 2024. Ms. Yagaloff has been teaching for the past five years at UP Academy Dorchester as a K1 inclusion teacher and previously as a K2 multilingual learners classroom teacher. Ms. Yagaloff received the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2021. Before that, she served for one year as a first grade teacher in Cambridge Public Schools. Ms. Yagaloff has both a BA in Elementary Education and a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Boston College.
Boston Children’s Chorus Spring Concert 🎶
Under the direction of Mr. Robert McFletcher-Jones and Ms. Jenny Chou from Boston Children’s Chorus, our second and third graders performed their end-of-year chorus concert on Wednesday in front of a packed house in the Perry Auditorium. They sang uplifting songs like This Little Light of Mine, This Is The Beginning of A Very Good Day, Lead With Love and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
Finish ‘Til Friday
While we are headed down the homestretch and certainly approaching the summer, we still want to highly encourage strong attendance. Attendance matters, and we want our students to be here as we continue critical teaching and learning – and in moments when we pause to celebrate the school year (at field day, etc.). We ask that families help support students to “finish ‘til Friday” and keep attending all the way to Friday, June 21st.
Perry Loves To Read This Summer 📖
We will once again be able to send home Summer Reading books, which will be distributed during the week of 6/17. Please ensure your child has an opportunity to read these books (and others) and keeps in the habit of reading! Continuing to read throughout the summer is incredibly important in ensuring your child continues to develop their reading “muscles.”
The goal of our summer reading books is to (hopefully) send out books that students will be interested in and enjoy reading. It also creates a shared experience in reading, as their classmates will be reading the same texts. We hope that families will highly encourage their children to read these books (preferably, from a “let’s make sure to read these awesome books” perspective, rather than a “we ‘have to’ read these books” approach).
On a related note, students will continue to have access to Clever online programs throughout the summer such as Lexia, Epic Books, RazKids, ST Math, etc.
3rd grade International Week 🌎
Third Grade students participated in an "International Week" project where they researched six different countries from around the world which included Egypt, France, Peru, Australia, Tanzania, and Japan. Students worked as a team to research and create visual displays representing their assigned country. Afterwards, they had the chance to "visit" each country with their Perry Passports!
