A Note from Principal Presley
This week's highlight for me was joining in on the fun at PTA's fundraiser at SteepleJack. It's a joy to see families outside of school!
Thursday was the Great Shakeout drill, and my first ever earthquake drill; students rocked it and definitely showed me the way! It is beginning to feel like things are settling in- boy were the first months BUSY.
Conferences will be the week of November 20-21. Teachers will be in touch with more information and, if they haven't already, provide a sign-up schedule. Teachers may offer after school conferences the Thursday and Friday prior but will not extend the week following.
Finally, students will be allowed to dress up on 10/31 should they want but no masks or look alike weapons are allowed. This decision was made through the data from the one topic survey question with teachers (a resounding 90.1% responding in favor of the opportunity) and polling the PTA at our last meeting. Should your child want to participate but lack a costume, feel free to reach out!
As we head into another much needed weekend, I hope you have time to enjoy it and relax! I will be packing since my husband and I get the keys to our new house on Monday- very excited to say goodbye to our 1 bedroom apartment that served us well for the last 10 months.

Fun Run Deadline Extended to October 20th!
We are inching closer to our goal of $42,000, but still need your help. Donations to the Fun Run directly fund this year's PTA programs. Without the BCS community's assistance, the PTA may be unable to hold beloved events, fund critical teacher and student grants, or support ongoing programs such as the learning garden and artist-in-residence.
View all the PTA's programs on our website. Every dollar contributed is invested in our students, teachers/staff, and community.
Prizes
Students may earn prizes for their participation. A few highlights:
- Classes with at least 70% participation (based on # kids with at least 1 donation) earn a donut party!
- The top 2 point-earners from grades K-5 and 6-8 get to PIE Ms. Presley at the November all-school assembly!
View all the prizes and how to earn points here.
Thank you!
A huge thank you to all the volunteers, staff, spectators, and students for making the run a success. We saw lots of smiles, laughs, and runners with no shoes (!). Altogether, 506 kids participated, running a total of 4,130 laps, which equals 1,032.5 miles. Wow!
How to donate
Donate online here. To ensure your student receives credit, either mention your student's name in the donation comments OR login to their personalized fundraising page. You may also turn in a check to the office labeled with your student's name.
Don't forget to check with your employer regarding a corporate match!
Thank you for your support!

The PTA is continuing its popular BottleDrop recycling fundraiser this year and K-5 students should bring home a Blue Bag this week.
It's EASY to raise money for our PTA by recycling your cans and bottles. Just fill up a Blue Bag and return it at any BottleDrop location (Fred Meyer, New Seasons, and Whole Foods are closest). We hope to raise $7500 this year with your help!
