KG/1st Updates
Oct. 14-Oct.25
Oct. 29- PICTURE DAY (forms were sent home). All children will take a picture, but you are not obligated to make a purchase.
Oct. 31- Halloween- All classrooms will have their own Halloween party in the afternoon. The morning will be filled with fun learning activities. Students are allowed to wear costumes (no masks/weapons). They are also allowed to bring treats to share. There are 18 students in the classroom.
Nov. 1 Girls on the Run/First Friday Party on the Playground Come meet other Oak Hill families at our Party on the Playground. While you are there, cheer on our Oak Hill Girls on the Run team as they do a 5k practice run.
Nov. 5- Election Day- NO SCHOOL
ClassDojo: If you have not already done so, PLEASE download the ClassDojo app. We will be using ClassDojo for our mass communication tool in the classroom as well the school. This platform ensures parents receive information in one consistent place! Just click on the picture!

What We're Learning
ELA Comprehension goal: Non-fiction/Fiction and sequencing.
PHONICS Review letter names and sounds for: Aa, Mm, Ss, Tt, Pp, Ff, Ii.Nn, Dd, Oo, Co. We will introduce Gg, Uu, Bb, and Ee. We will also practice spelling and reading 3 letter words with the middle sound of a,i,o or u.
SIGHT WORDS Review: the, a, I. and, is,, in, look, see, if, said, do, can & to. We will introduce my, of.
MATH
Unit 4 we will continue comparing numbers using the words greater than, less than and equal to and using the symbols (<,>,=).
HOMEWORK PACKETS: Students received their first homework packet for the week. You only need to return the signed top copy. This is for your convenience of completing when you are able throughout the week. This packet is for your child to practice skills we learn in class each week.
iPads
We will be using our iPads daily to access Freckle, Successmaker, IXL and other learning apps. The iPads are stored securely in our classroom and charged overnight.
SNACKS: Students are allowed to bring in their own snack. Snack time is 2:30-2:40.
VOLUNTEERS! In order to volunteer for future field trips and parties, all adults must have a background check on file each year. If you previously completed this for another child, you are still required to complete a new one for the 2024-25 school year. You can call the main office for an application.

TRANSPORTATION: Parents who walk their children home can continue to meet at the front door. Parents who drive, thank you for your patience. You just need to wait in the car and pull up to door 2 while we get your child(ren) and bring them to your car. We will continue to utilize our pickup on the playground. Students who ride the bus will be placed on the bus by Mrs. Timmons. She will update bus departures via ClassDojo.
