JILL BUSH EARNS OHIO SCHOOL BUS DRIVER OF THE YEAR
Mrs. Jill Bush, school bus driver for Strongsville City Schools since 2008, is the recipient of this year’s George Sontag, Jr. Award recognizing the Ohio School Bus Driver of the Year. The George Sontag, Jr. School Bus Driver of the Year Award recognizes bus drivers who exhibit outstanding leadership and professional conduct in the school transportation field, both in the district they represent as well as in the State of Ohio. The award also recognizes bus drivers who have contributed to the advancement of pupil transportation as a profession. Click HERE for the complete news release.

STRONGSVILLE DECA PROGRAM RECEIVES INTERNATIONAL HONOR
The Strongsville DECA chapter earned an international honor for having the highest percentage increase in membership in the state of Ohio for the 2020-2021 school year. Each year DECA recognizes leading chapters that have built strong local programs focused on serving an exceptional number of students, advisors, and community business partners. DECA is a career and technical student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs who are interested in careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular opportunities integrating classroom instruction, applied learning, and connections to local business partners.
STRONGSVILLE INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC BOOSTERS MATTRESS SALE - SAT. 8/28
The Strongsville Instrumental Music Boosters (SIMB) are pleased to announce their 12th annual Mattress Fundraiser. The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, August 28th, from 10am-5pm in the SHS Cafeteria. The high school’s cafeteria will be converted into a showroom featuring all makes, models, sizes, and types of mattresses - even custom sizes for RV’s and boats! Mattresses can be delivered anywhere in the USA. You will find the same quality and service of the box mattress retailers at greatly reduced prices. This annual fundraiser generates funds that support the Strongsville Band and Orchestra students and program.

IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR INCOMING 7TH & 12TH GRADERS FOR THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR
Please note the following immunization requirements from the Ohio Department of Health
All students entering 7th grade need to receive the following immunizations prior to entering 7th grade: One (1) dose of Meningococcal [MCV4] vaccine (a second dose of meningococcal vaccine will be required prior to entry into the 12th grade) & One (1) dose of Tdap [tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis] vaccine
All students entering 12th grade need to receive the following immunizations prior to entering 12th grade: Two (2) doses of Meningococcal [MCV4] vaccine
Incoming 7th and 12th graders will need to show proof of having received these vaccines before they can return to school for the 2021-22 school year (exemptions are provided for under law, call for more information).

Section 3313.671 of the Ohio Revised Code states that students who do not provide documentation of this immunization will be excluded from school on the 15th day after entrance, until proof is provided.
‘RIGHT AT SCHOOL’ TO OFFER BEFORE- & AFTER-SCHOOL CARE IN OUR DISTRICT FOR 2021-22
Our District is excited to announce a partnership agreement with the nationally recognized school enrichment provider, Right At School, to provide before- and after-school care for elementary students for the 2021-22 school year. Right at School will be offering before- and after-school care every weekday (Monday-Friday) at each of the elementary school buildings in our District. Strongsville Rotary KidsFest + Brady’s K9 Safety Fair
The Rotary Club of Strongsville will host its annual Duck Race and Kids Fest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. TOMORROW (Saturday, August 21) at the Cleveland Metroparks Chalet. The Kids Fest is free and will include games and activities, inflatables, food and more. This year’s Kids Fest includes a Safety Fair hosted by SMS 6th Grader Brady S. Aspire Greater Cleveland is once again teaching IN-PERSON classes to help non-native speakers learn English and validate their skills. Students must attend an ESOL/Citizenship orientation session before beginning ESOL or citizenship classes. Computer Classes
Cuyahoga County Public Library offers computer classes for beginners to advanced. Classes are currently being held VIRTUALLY using the program Screenleap which requires a web browser and an internet connection. There is no additional software to download. Google Chrome is the recommended browser. A valid email address is required for registration. Registrants will receive an email with a link to join the class at least an hour before the start time. The Strongsville Library is home to both Audio and Video Recording studios that can help you do just that! You must go through an orientation in order to use the spaces. During the COVID-19 pandemic these orientations will be held VIRTUALLY ONLY. We will offer orientations on both rooms, however, only the Video Studio is open during this time.
