KHS Update
03/07/2025

Principal's Message
I had the great pleasure of being a spectator for the annual Faculty/Student Basketball game. It was so much fun. The students were ultimately victorious, but our staff put up a strong game, and I'm happy to report that we did not have to file any workplace injury reports!
The Career and College EXPO was on March 5th and it was a great opportunity from our students to meet representatives from over fifty organizations that can help students with life after high school.
Sadly the Blue Rams were not victorious over the Maroon Rams in the Hockey playoffs, but it was a great game, and a season nonetheless. Congrats!
One Winter Sports shout out that I failed to include last week was our three KHS girls on the Biddeford, Kennebunk, Thornton Academy and Wells co-op Hockey team who also had an outstanding season. Alexa Hubbard was actually named All-Conference Team as a freshman defense-person. Congratulations!
Willow Knowles was recognized as a Top 5 finalist in the Maine Poetry Out Loud competition at the Waterville Opera House last week! Congratulations!!
Our KHS cast and crew will be traveling to the Regional Drama Festival at Thornton Academy for Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 8th to perform their adapted one-act production of Silent Sky. I saw the show last night and it is great. Kennebunk students will be taking the stage TONIGHT Friday, March 7th at 8:30pm for friends, family, and community members who want to attend. This student-led production has worked incredibly hard on the show from start to finish, and we cannot wait to see what great things they will accomplish. The top 2 schools of the 10 performing at this regional event will advance to compete at the state level later in March. Let's wish these students GOOD LUCK! ****Please be advised that this event is electronic entry -- tickets will be bought on site, credit/debit only.
Seniors, remember we're launching the Senior Project for this year. Please see below for specific information about the opportunity. Please remember that there are strict eligibility requirements that include having 30 Community Service hours completed (the completion of these hours is also a graduation requirement at KHS).
Less than a month left before the end of Quarter 3 so let's keep that focus going. Seniors, remember that this is NOT the time to take your foot off the gas.
Finally, today is the last day to sign up for the PSAT 10 and the SAT School day at KHS this year. Make sure that students sign up with their email to get registered. More info and the links are below!
IT'S SPIRT WEEK NEXT WEEK!!! See below for details.
Peace,
Scott Tombleson (He/Him/His - What is this?)

KHS Local Scholarship Booklet for Seniors - Coming Soon
The 2025 KHS Local Scholarship Booklet will be distributed to seniors via email on March 21. A senior meeting to discuss the application process will take place during advisory on March 20. The booklet contains scholarships generated from the generosity of local private and public organizations, businesses and individuals. Applications will be due electronically through Google Classroom by April 29 (the day after you return to school from spring break). Please look at the booklet as soon as you receive it as some applications require more work than others and should not be saved to do at the last minute. The application deadline is firm, so please plan accordingly if you are scheduled to be away during the vacation break.
Attention Juniors: University of Southern Maine Junior Day is 4/18
The University of Southern Maine is hosting a Junior Preview Day for students and their families on Friday, April 18th. If you have questions about the day's events, please call (207)780-5670.
Have you Been Waitlisted or Deferred From A College?
As much as it's disappointing to hear you have been deferred or waitlisted, there are several steps you can take now. Read more here. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to meet with your counselor.
