MT's purpose is to educate and empower students to become responsible citizens.
A Few Words From the Principal
What a great first full week of school we've had! The students are adjusting to new routines and schedules, making new friends, and developing healthy learning habits. We held class meetings this week during WIN time to discuss with each grade our expectations and opportunities at MTMS.
Thank you for for helping your student while they continue to develop their organizational skills this school year! To avoid forgotten homework, clothes, supplies, and other items, thank you for double-checking with your student that they have what they need to be successful in the classroom and in after-school sports or activities. We're excited to see how our students work to Level Up this school year.

Attendance Information
To ensure the safety of our students, please report all full-day absences (illness, etc.) and late arrivals due to morning appointments by 8:30 a.m. You may call the school attendance line at 913-422-5854 or use the online absence report form. The school will call to follow-up with unreported absences after this time. Students arriving tardy after 7:55 must enter through the front office doors (you are not required to escort late students inside, but if your student is late due to an appointment, please report it to the office so their attendance is appropriately marked).
Students are allowed ten (10) days of absences per school year without an accompanying doctor’s note. (This includes illness, appointments, and “parent request” absences, which should be coordinated with the school in advance). Absences in excess of ten (10) without accompanying documentation will be considered unexcused. Missing a substantial portion of a day (three (3) or more class periods) shall be considered one "day." Unexcused absences are subject to the rules set forth by the Board of Education and Kansas Truancy Laws.
You are not required to notify the office in advance if you will be checking a student out during the school day for an appointment. Please ring the bell at the main office, state your student's name and indicate you are checking them out, and complete the student check out inside and we will call your student from class at that time. Students will only be released to parent/guardians or emergency contacts listed in Skyward unless coordinated in advance with the school.
Student Tardy Policy
Students will be counted tardy when arriving late to school after 7:55 (excluding for appointments). Each quarter, students will receive warnings for their first two (2) tardies, the third tardy will result in a phone call home. For the fourth (4) and all subsequent tardies, the student will be required to make up their missed time after school with their first hour teacher.
