MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Fowler Community,
Welcome back to the ‘24-’25 school year. I am honored to serve as your Principal. For those of you who don’t know me yet, I want to share a few things about myself. I am excited to continue working in the community I have dedicated the past 18 years to, 13 of which have been at Fowler. The dedicated, talented teachers and staff at Fowler make it a truly special place. As a school leader, I stand for benevolence, justice and care and I will use these principles as my guide. I am committed to public education because I want to have a part in creating a community where kindness, joy and care are elevated. As this year progresses, I hope to meet, listen to, and speak with many of you to continue building relationships that support our collective task of educating and supporting our kids in a safe school environment.
Outside of being an administrator I am a wife and mother who loves to travel, cook, be outdoors, savor all of Portland’s delicious restaurants, and play video games. This summer my family and I spent two weeks on the island of Sardinia off the Italian coast and it was spectacular! The beaches and snorkeling were the highlights of the trip for our family. I hope that you all had some time to reconnect and recharge as we embark on another school year.
This year we are fortunate to have professional development led by Anita Archer, a renowned educational consultant and author, known for her expertise in effective teaching strategies and explicit instruction. She has made significant contributions to improving classroom practices, helping teachers enhance student learning through clear, structured, and engaging methods. Our district-wide middle-level instructional focus will be on vocabulary instruction and opportunities to respond in a challenging, interactive classroom. All teachers, regardless of subject, will leverage these strategies to build on the growth we’ve seen in the post pandemic years.
This is a very special year for Fowler. We are celebrating Fowler’s 50th anniversary! Major sewer and plumbing work was successfully completed over the summer and although most of the work was completed underground, we are excited to show off our new commons floor, bathroom, and improvements to several classrooms including the ceramics and art classrooms. As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, we’d like to highlight former Fowler alumni. If you are, or know someone, who attended Fowler and should be highlighted, please let us know by sending an email to fowleroffice@ttsd.k12.or.us.
Clear communication is essential to the success of any school community. I will be setting up recurring community meetings in order to ensure opportunities for dialogue. Our weekly newsletters will continue to be sent out via email on Sundays so please make sure your accurate email address is in Synergy ParentVue. I check email and voicemail daily and will work diligently to get back to you as soon as possible. If you would like to meet in person, please reach out to the main office secretarial staff to schedule an appointment or to check my availability.
Please join us on Wednesday, August 28th anytime from 4:30-6:30pm for a Welcome Back Event. The event is held in an open house type format so there is no official start or presentation. This is an opportunity for students to pick up their schedules, get their locker/combination, drop off supplies and walk the halls to find their classes. If you can not attend this event, students will be able to pick up their schedules on the first day of school or by logging into StudentVue. Orientation day for our 6th grade students ONLY is Tuesday, September 3rd. Our 7th & 8th grade students will join the following day on a late start schedule, Wednesday, September 4th.
This is going to be a fantastic year of growth, celebration, discovery and connection. Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve as Fowler’s principal and I thank you for your continued support and partnership during these preteen years!

HAPPENINGS
There are a handful of things we hope students will accomplish:
Get their schedule AND locker assignment
Meet their teachers. They will be in their classrooms.
Locate their Locker. Practice, load it up with your supplies, decorate… (Do not do anything that is permanent. i.e., stickers that are not removable, permanent markers, etc.)
iPad pickup.
Pick up their school supplies if you pre-ordered them.
PSO will have Fowler wear available for purchase.
Have a popsicle break. Frozen Fruit Bars on us!
No special order/sequence. You may move about as you choose. We do recommend picking up your schedule early in the process.
NOTE: The lines WILL BE longer at the beginning! They always are.
