C.I.T.Y. NEWS

I feel so blessed to be able to work with such a dedicated board of directors. We meet every month to discuss our initiatives and create new ways to foster the development of our C.I.T.Y. And our committee chairs and volunteers work tirelessly (!) to create meaningful programs and events that are relevant for families, children, and professionals in our community.

Over the past year, we have created and planned (4) large events:

• Rockin' Shoppin' in the C.I.T.Y.-A Holiday Gift Event (November)
• We Love Our C.I.T.Y.-A Valentine's Day Obstacle Course/Resource Fair (February)
• C.I.T.Y.'s First Annual Graduation Celebration (June)
• C.I.T.Y.'s Specialty Supply Sale (July)

Here's how YOU can help us! We have created a Google Survey for you to share with us your thoughts regarding these past events and ideas/suggestions for the future. NORTHWEST SUBURBS: ARLINGTON HEIGHTS MEMORIAL LIBRARY:

As always, we are meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of the month (9/10) for our “Developmental Playgroup.” We are also continuing to offer a more adult-focused group called “Caregivers, Coffee, and Play” on the 4th Sunday of the month (9/22). Come join us and meet other families in the neighborhood.

**OTHER REGIONS**

We are continuing to research other neighborhood options in the North, West, South, and City locations that will help to accommodate more families. We are especially interested in partnering with other local libraries in those areas. If you are interested in helping to facilitate these types of events near you, please feel free to contact us at hello@cityofsupport.org.

The last of four topics in our 2019 series is called "Taking Care of YOU." We will be hosting a variety of specialists who have your best interests in mind from mental healthcare to respite options to marriage counseling to legal/financial concerns. Come to hear what our knowledgeable panel and attendees can share from their own personal experiences, learn some new information, and find support resources within our community. This event is applicable for both parents and professionals, and Early Intervention continuing education credits are currently pending approval.

Registration is required through this Eventbrite link, although this event is FREE for parents. We also hope to live-stream this conversation on Facebook for those who are unable to participate in-person, encouraging virtual participation as well.

We will introduce ourselves to neighbors while we craft personalized introductions for our children at school! Gathered Boutique & Workshop in Mount Prospect is lending us the use of their personal studio, and Graphic Designer, Casey Deja, will be guiding us through the process. Snacks and beverages will be served. What a fun excuse to meet some of the

families in our C.I.T.Y!
