Center School Chronicle
Friday, January 24, 2025
Dear Center School Community,
Having Monday off and near record cold temperatures this week didn't keep our learners from doing great things. Students enjoyed Spirit Week and indoor recesses and engaged in a number of learning opportunities.
Please enjoy this week's Chronicle.
Have a great weekend,
Jeremy
Spirit Week
Spirit Week was held this week. Students wore mismatched outfits, dressed like their future careers, represented a favorite sport and/or team and had PJ Day. Staff held an "Undercover Spirit Week" that included an Anything but a Cup Day.
A look at Learning
Fifth graders are enjoying their current unit of study in ELA.
Students are exploring the fantasy genre. Their work includes reading and writing fantasy texts
while learning about the characteristics of the genre.
Fourth grade students learned about and created compass roses. They also worked to extend their Great Walls of Base Ten to represent 1,000,000.
Big Brother/Big Sister
Thanks to Mrs. Benigni for organizing this program. Once a week high school students are coming to Center after school to play games and spend time with our learners.
Salmon in Schools Program
Approximately 300 salmon eggs were delivered to Room 210. The students in Ms. Cordeiro and Mrs. Knapp's classes will monitor the temperature of the tank and track the development of the eggs for the coming months. Learners will observe as the eggs develop into alevin. This project culminates with a "stock out" when the alevin are released into the Salmon River.
