A Message from the Principal
We had a busy but fantastic week at Hewes. On Thursday morning we acknowledged the many 8th grade students at Hewes for their accomplishments in and out of the classroom. We held our promotion exercises on Thursday evening for our 8th graders and their families, it was a lovely event for everyone in attendance.
On Tuesday, our 8th graders will be off to Disney California Adventure for a fun day to celebrate the end of the year. While the 8th graders are off campus, we will hold our Spirit Awards to recognize 6th-grade and 7th-grade students who have shown character and leadership in their classes. If your child is being recognized, their teacher will contact you with details of the assembly. Yearbooks will be distributed to 8th-grade students on Thursday, May 30th. The 6th and 7th-grade students will get their yearbooks on Friday, May 31st during 1st and 2nd period.
The last day of school is Friday, May 31st and it will be a minimum day for all students with dismissal at 12:25 pm. We will serve breakfast from 7:50 am - 8:10 am and lunch items will be served at student snack at 10:30 am. We will dismiss students on the last day using a staggered release, students will be walked out by their teacher with the 8th Grade walking out at 12:18 pm, the 6th Grade walking out at 12:22 pm, and the 7th Grade walking out at 12:25. All students will be exiting campus at the end of the day, no one will be allowed to remain on campus unless they are part of the after-school YMCA program.

NEW E-Vehicle Rules for fall of 2024
Parking Permit Requirements for the 2024-2025 School Year
On the school campus, the use of electric vehicles (E-vehicles) is subject to specific guidelines aimed at ensuring safety and accountability. To ride an E-vehicle to school and park on campus, students and their parents or guardians are required to attend an E-Vehicle Safety Presentation facilitated by the Tustin Unified School District and local law enforcement agencies. The purpose is to educate students and families about the laws that pertain to E-Vehicles. Once a student attends the presentation they are able to purchase a permit for $5, in order to park their E-vehicle on campus. The permit must be displayed on the E-Vehicle in a visible location. Permits can be purchased on campus.
The campus parking lot adheres to a speed limit of 5 MPH. Engaging in reckless driving or exceeding the speed limit may result in the revocation of parking privileges. Activities such as riding inside the gates, on blacktops, fields, or tracks, riding doubles, and performing wheelies are strictly prohibited. The school assumes no responsibility for the security of E-vehicles, and there are no provisions for charging E-vehicles on campus. In cases of theft or collision, students are advised to promptly contact their local law enforcement agency.
Unauthorized activities, including the transfer or exchange of permits without proper authorization, as well as providing transportation without permission, will lead to the loss of parking privileges. It is strongly emphasized that students adhere to these regulations to uphold a safe and orderly campus environment. Compliance with these guidelines contributes to the overall well-being and organization of the school community.
**Dates for safety presentations will be sent to families this summer.
