The Connector
November 2024
Lancaster County School District values the voices of all stakeholders. The 2024 bond referendum was certified on today, November 8, 2024 with 59.57% of 30,873 voters, saying โnoโ to the ballot measure.
Lancaster County School District views the election results not as a setback, but as a step forward. The past months have provided an opportunity for me to meet the community and share my vision of continuous improvement. Lancaster County will be the premier district in South Carolina.
The entire bond referendum process has allowed us toโฆ
listen to the community
strengthen partnerships through rich conversations
share the current and future needs of our district
examine how we allocate funding
expand business, civic, and faith partnerships
discuss concerns and celebrate successes
Our next steps include reviewing current enrollment, growth projections, facility capacity, and funding sources. We will prioritize needs and develop an action plan. We look forward to future discussions and appreciate your feedback.
Only through involvement of all stakeholders can we make informed decisions as we move forward together: All in for all students in all areas of the county all of the time.
The Lancaster County School District Board of Trustees welcomes back Tyrom Faulkner, District 2 and welcomes Revery Johnson, District 4 and Olivia Hann, District 6. The new board members will be sworn in at the November 19, 2024 meeting.

The safety department is signing up staff members for the remind app to be used to distribute emergency information about your area schools. This will allow us another emergency communication tool if we have a need to evacuate our buildings, have a natural disaster or a criminal act on or around school grounds that threatens the welfare of students and staff. The distribution of information to staff is vital in an emergency. Please use the link below to opt in to the text list of your area school. This is voluntary, of course. Your numbers are not shared with us as a safety precaution for your privacy.

AJMS Alumni, Wonza Johnson, currently on Broadway, returns to speak with Andrew Jackson Middle School 8th grade students
Wonza Johnson walked the halls of Andrew Jackson Middle School, but now performs on the biggest stages in New York on Broadway. During a unit on the seminal novel by S.E. Hinton, The Outsiders, 8th Grade ELA students in Mrs. Griffinโs and Mrs. Castellucci classes will get the opportunity to virtually talk to this AJMS Alumni about his work on Broadway. Mr. Johnson is currently starting in the Broadway premiere of The Outsiders, which is running at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York City.
The Virtual Residency will take place on Monday, November 4, 2024 and will allow for students to understand different interpretations of this novel and how they are similar and different from Francis Ford Coppolaโs landmark motion picture. AJMS is delighted to welcome Broadway Superstar, Mr. Wonza Johnson back to the FOCUS program to inspire and enrich the artistic and academic lives of our students.
South Middle School and A.R. Rucker Middle School competed in their final match of the football season last night. Eighth grade football players from both teams were recognized at half-time. In the true sense of collaboration, teams gathered with their coaches and administrators at the conclusion of the game to receive a final pep-talk. Players take the field as South Mustangs and Rucker Rams, but leave the field as future Lancaster Bruins. A great lesson in collaboration and community. #AllIn #CommUNITY
