Flash Food & Toiletries Drive
NEXT WEEK: December 16th - December 20th
Tis' the season to be giving...
The week before holiday break, the Ambassadors will be hosting a "flash" food and toiletries drive. Each grade level has been assigned specific non-perishable foods and toiletries to donate. Please see the above photo for the grade-level assignments.
There is a contest K-2 and 3-5 to see who can donate the most food/toiletry items and the grade-level that wins gets extra recess. We have a goal to collect 100 items per grade.
We hope everyone has an amazing winter break!
December's Student Spirit Day
Return to FULL DAY Wednesdays
When we return to school following the Winter Break, we will have FULL DAYS of school on Wednesdays. Full day Wednesdays will continue through March 5th!
The Hour of Code takes place December 9 -15, 2024.
This past week in STEM class, students in grades K-5 have been exploring computer programming. The Hour of Code started in December 2013 during Computer Science Education Week. It is an effort around the world to celebrate computer science and get students and teachers to understand that anybody can learn code.
Visit code.org if your student is interested in doing more coding at home.
Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest
Senator Murphy invites students to participate in his Office’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest. We ask students from elementary, middle, and high schools from across Connecticut to participate in honoring the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. by submitting essays that reflect on Dr. King’s dream, their own aspirations, and the importance of what Dr. King means to them.
Submissions are now open and must be received by Saturday, January 11th at 11:59pm. Essays can be submitted online or mailed to our Hartford Office.
Essay instructions and FAQs can be found below. This site includes word count guidelines, submission guidelines, and information on what we look for in essays.
We look forward to reading and reviewing your student’s work! If you have any further questions, please contact Sarah Lopez at 860-549-8463 or email at MLK_Essay@murphy.senate.gov.
