Dr. Parlar, Principal
Dear Slate Ridge Families,
What an amazing kick-off to the year! It was wonderful to see all the smiling faces and welcome new friends into our Slate Ridge family. We have some important information about Curriculum Night below, so please take a moment to read through it. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
We can’t wait to see everyone again next Thursday, the 29th, at our Ice Cream Social and Curriculum Night!
Reminders:
- Morning Drop-Off: We’ve loved seeing parents walk their students to class, but starting Monday, August 26th, adults will no longer be allowed in the building during drop-off. Please say your goodbyes outside. Our team will ensure all students safely find their classrooms. We will lock the doors at 9:20. After 9:20, students will be marked tardy.
- Cell Phone Policy: Students are required to follow the district's cell phone policy. Phones should stay in backpacks and be off-limits during school hours until dismissal.
- Car Rider Protocol: Make sure you’re registered at the front desk and have your car rider card displayed on your windshield. If not, you’ll need to stop by the front desk for an ID check. We appreciate your cooperation to keep dismissal smooth.
Looking forward to another fantastic year together!
Warm regards,
Dr.Parlar, Principal

Curriculum Night 8/29, Thursday
5PM-7PM
We are excited to invite you to our Curriculum Night, an important event designed to help you understand the academic structure and expectations in your child’s classroom.
Why We're Hosting This Event:
- Understand our academic structure: We will walk you through the grade-level Math and Reading standards and what is expected of students this year.
- Learn about resources: You'll have the chance to ask questions about the resources we use and the platforms we encourage our students to use.
- Get familiar with the curriculum: This is an opportunity for you to gain insight into the curriculum your child will be following.
Event Schedule:
5:00 PM - 5:30 PM: Ice Cream Social (a time to relax and socialize with other parents)
5:45 PM - 6:15 PM: Session A
6:20 PM - 6:50 PM: Session B
7:00 PM: Event concludes
Important Notes:
- Choose your session: You only need to attend one of the two identical sessions. However, if you have more than one student, you may attend both to ensure you don't miss any information.
- Timeliness is key: If you miss the start of a session, please wait in the cafeteria for the next session. We will make announcements to guide you to the appropriate room.
- Q&A Time: Each session will include time for questions and answers.
- Not a conference or open house: This event is focused on curriculum and academic structure, not individual student progress.
We look forward to seeing you at this beneficial event where you can become more familiar with the curriculum and how we’re supporting your child’s academic growth.
Arrival Time to Slate Ridge!
AM Arrival 9:10-9:20am - Enter from Taylor Rd., pull through the car rider loop, and drop students along the sidewalk in the pickup/drop zone. Exit through the neighborhood. Students will enter the building through the back gym entrance. Students arriving after 9:20am will be marked tardy and must be signed in by a parent/guardian at the front office.
IMPORTANT: Drop off/Pick Up
- Your child should exit the car from the passenger side, closest to the school. They should exit when you have moved up as far as possible to allow for 6-7 cars to drop at a time. Your student should be ready to exit the car when you get to that farthest spot possible.
- Please pull all the way up to the farthest point to drop off. If you are the lead car, this should be to the end of the sidewalk along the building. This allows 6-7 cars to drop off in the actual loop.
- Please do not pass any cars that are stopped in the lane. This is extremely unsafe and can put our students in danger. Please refer back to the first bullet point in this email as well in making sure your students are ready to exit the car so as not to hold up the line.
- Please be patient. We all want to provide the safest situation that we can.
- To ensure our students get to school safely, we have collaborated with the City of Reynoldsburg and the Reynoldsburg Police Department and have identified some traffic issues you may encounter during arrival and dismissal. Please note that the RPD might issue a citation if there are any violations. Parents speeding through the neighborhood (to the west of the building) to come in the back lot to drop kids off.
- Please be patient while we are training our students to get used to our arrival and dismissal procedure in the first couple of weeks. We appreciate your cooparetaion.
- We know that everyone wants to get their children to school safely and on time. Thank you for being a partner as we ensure a smooth drop-off and pick-up process.
