CMS Toppers: News From the Middle!
11.10.24
Caroff's Corner
It seems only right to start this newsletter with a huge thank you to our Topper families for attending Parent-Teacher Conferences. We value you as partners and appreciate your time. If you have feedback on the conferences, please use the link below to share your thoughts - we appreciate your insights on the parent perspective to these important meetings.
Speaking of your valuable time, thank you to those family members who took the time to stop at the Sources of Strength table during conferences, wiring a letter to your student. See below for additional information on these letters.
If you are a seventh grade family, you should have also received a message from Mrs. Steward this past week regarding the 11/25 and 11/26 Digital World program lessons that will occur during Social Studies classes. Check Infinite Campus if you happen to have missed this letter.
Enjoy the upcoming week as we get closer to Thanksgiving!

Letters to Your Students
Many parents of Toppers took the opportunity to stop by the Sources of Strength letter-writing table during conferences over the past few weeks. We had a huge turn out and we have some many amazing letters to deliver to students tomorrow, Monday, November 11th. We are so thankful for the supportive and trusted adults in our students' lives who prioritize their education and growth!

Builders Club Holds Annual Food Drive
Builders Club is holding a food drive next week, November 18th-26th for The Geauga Hunger Task Force. Non perishable food items such as canned vegetables and boxes of pasta will be collected in Homerooms. The class from each grade that collects the most food will earn free time during Flex. If you have any questions please contact Amanda Weaver (amanda.weaver@chardonschools.org)
Important Announcement Regarding Lunch and Recess
To all CMS families,
Student safety is a top priority for our our team at CMS. We have noticed recently that a number of students have been coming in and out of the building during their recess and lunch period without permission. We are enhancing our supervision, but are hopeful that you can have a conversation with your child about the importance of being where they are scheduled to be each part of the school day. This will also help us locate students quickly for appointments during the day or quick discussions with office staff during non-instructional times.
We have also received a number of requests for students to switch their lunch periods in grade six. Students were placed in their classes and on teams very intentionally and we will not agree to switch lunch and recess for your child at this time. If your child is having trouble making friends in their assigned mealtime, please let their counselor or a principal know, and we will help to facilitate new friendships.
Moving forward, if students are identified as switching their lunch and recess without adult permission, a consequence will be issued. Thanks so much for partnering with us on this concern.

Clinic News form Ms. Jen
Hello parents,
Vision and hearing are done on all 5th, 7th, and new students. If I sent you a referral form for either test, please have a doctor fill out the medical portion and return it to me. I will be sending out second letter reminders here soon.
We do have a couple of students in our school who are immunocompromised. This means their ability to fight viruses or bacteria is hindered for whatever reason. If you don’t mind can you let the office know when you are calling your child off for contagious reasons? (strep, hand foot and mouth, covid, walking pneumonia, etc) We as nurses send home letters with a percentage of contagious illnesses in a classroom.
I have reached out to all 6th-grade parents whose children will be needing vaccines for 7th grade. If you reached out to me for an exemption it should have come home through your child. Please sign exemption and have the student return it to me.
If you have any questions please call me.
Thank you
Jennifer Trittschuh RN BSN LSN
Have you joined our CMS PBIS rewards yet?
During the first week of school, all families received personalized QR codes to join PBIS rewards to see your student's information as it relates to positive behavior choices in the building. If you have not joined yet, please consider doing so by scanning the code you received and signing up to receive notifications.
If you need another QR code, please reach out to your child's homeroom teacher or Ms. Paroubek to access another copy.
Thanks for partnering with us on this new system!
