AEHS Weekly Newsletter
February 16, 2025
Good evening, Titans!
I hope you are all well and enjoying this rainy three-day weekend! I am thrilled to be back at Einstein after visiting Argyle MS for eight weeks. While I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Argyle, there truly is no place like home!
I want to thank you all for your support of Mr. Krop, our staff, students, and community, while he completed his practicum experience. Though I was not physically in the building, I was in communication with Mr. Krop throughout his practicum, and received very favorable feedback about how he lead the school in my absence. Well done, Mr. Krop.
At any rate, there are a number of pertinent items included in the newsletter below. Please remember that tomorrow is a holiday and we do not have school. We look forward to seeing your students again Tuesday, February 18.
All the best!
Mark Brown, Jr.
Principal

WIDA Testing (NEW)
Dear Parents and Caregivers of English Language Learners,
It’s that time of year again—WIDA ACCESS testing is here at Einstein! All students enrolled in the English Language Development (ELD) Program are required to take this important assessment. The ACCESS for ELLs test measures students’ proficiency in academic English, assessing their skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The results help determine the level of English language support your child may need. Students who score 4.5 or higher on the test will exit the program.
As part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 (Public Law 114-95), all English learners must be tested annually to assess their language proficiency. Additionally, COMAR (Code of Maryland Regulations) mandates that English learners be evaluated using a state-approved summative English language proficiency assessment. This ensures that all students are properly assessed and placed in appropriate learning environments.
In accordance with MCPS and state regulations, all students in the English language program must take the test, regardless of whether they are currently enrolled in an ELD course.
Please check your Synergy mail for details on when and where your child is scheduled to take the test. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Montague, English Language Resource Teacher, at Candace_Y_Montague@mcpsmd.org.
Thank you for your continued support!
