News From the Principal
Dear AES Patriot Families,
Please remember to send in a note with any changes to your child dismissal schedule in the morning with your child. I wish I had time to run messages around to students, but I am spread between two buildings, and teachers are busy teaching. If you must send an email or call because of an emergency, you must email the teacher, the secretary, and aes@nmrsd.org. Per the District Student Handbook “If a parent/guardian wishes to dismiss a student early, a note from the parent/guardian should accompany the student to school.”
We had a successful PTC meeting this week and I thank all the parents who joined us. With that said Mrs. Haigh and I are busy. If you AES wants to have a Book Fair we need volunteers for the Book Fair that could come both Wednesday, March 12 8am - 7 pm and Thursday March 13 from 8-3:00 PM. If that works in your schedule please reach out to me at agapp@nmrsd.org.
At the end of last week, all first graders dressed up as in the fifties to celebrate hitting the fifty day of school. They looked amazing and looked the part perfectly.
By now, you should have received information from your child's teacher regarding signing up for a time slot for upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences. Conferences will be held on Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26. I will be out at the preschool on Monday the 25 and no one will be able to man the phones if you forget your conference time, so just email the teacher! Students in grade 1-04 will receive our newly revised report cards in the beginning of December.
This month's 3 students with good attendance for the month of October were randomly chosen through the district to be honored with a T-Shirt.
AES Student Council will be working on assisting with filling a basket of food for our families. We are also working to stuff a bus with food, as well as helping out with their annual Giving Tree at the HS. We love helping others in need.
If you are cleaning out your closets or pulled out the winter jackets and they are too small please consider donating them to our annual Coat drive. Our number is slowly climbing up and we have 31 so keep them coming!
🚓Reminder from the Ashby Police Dept regarding Parent Drop off/Pick up. When the school bus stop sign is extended - you have to stop immediately.
If anyone would like to make a little pocket money, please consider applying for our open substitute positions at our school. We appreciate it!

News From Grade 2
Happy November! 🍂Wow, this year is flying by. The weather is starting to get cold; Please send your child to school with the proper outdoor wear. We go out every day for fresh air.
In ELA we just finished our Module on Schools around the world and the students created wonderful books comparing our school to different types of schools. We have started our second Module on Learning through Science; Fossils tell us a story. The kids are very excited about this topic.
In Math, we have finished Unit 2 on addition and subtraction within 100. We are now in Unit 3 which is measuring. Students will be exploring centimeters, meters, inches, and feet. In Science, we have started the PLTW(Project Lead the Way) unit on the changing Earth. In Social Studies we have been exploring families and traditions.
I look forward to speaking with you during your child's conference. This year conferences are in person or by phone only. We need disinfecting wipes for our desks. We wash our desks every other day to keep the germs away. Any donation of wipes will be appreciated.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
