Information from Our Deer Hill Nurse: Earlier this week Nurse Bulman shared important information about winter illnesses. Please see the attachment below for a copy of her communication. The School Nurse page on the Deer Hill website also has valuable resources.
A Note from Cohasset Rec: –Kids Klubhouse fundraiser for a 2026 CHS service trip. Join us for a joint program with Cohasset High School to help families who need childcare on the all-day professional day of Friday, March 14, with funds raised to benefit a 2026 CHS student service trip next April. They will provide an energetic and fun crew of high school volunteers to complement a few of our staff and provide a fun day. We have a full-day option of 7 am to 6 pm or 8 am to 3 pm. Please see the donation tab under the program selection area if you are going away that weekend but would like to contribute. Click here for Registration
PSO Parent Event: Aligned with our District work with the book, The Anxious Generation, our PSO is hosting an informative night for parents and caregivers that is VERY relevant to the Deer Hill age group. Please complete this survey (whether or not you're able to attend) which will help tailor Dr. Englander's presentation. Deer Hill students will complete a similar survey in technology class the week of March 17. For more information about Dr. Englander's presentation please visit this PSO page.
Follow CPS on Facebook: Cohasset Public Schools has a new Facebook page. Thanks for following us and stay tuned for more content as we get up and running.
Deer Hill Happenings
Safe Harbor Performance: Deer Hill 3rd graders enjoyed the play, Samantha Skunk, performed by Safe Harbor Ambassadors. This play guides the audience through the dangers of smoking and the overarching theme of making good choices.
Chess at Deer Hill BASE:
Hugo in the House
Hugo on Instagram: Keep up with Hugo's adventures on his Instagram account, @Hugo.Dogberry
Happy 1st Birthday, Hugo! Hugo celebrated his 1st birthday on Thursday with a Black and White Spirit Day. He made a lap of the hallways where he was greeted with smiles, pats, and singing. Many thanks to his Deer Hill friends who made him such thoughtful birthday cards!
CPS Purposeful Play & Risk Challenge
Each month Superintendent Shannon includes a suggestion for purposeful play and developmentally appropriate risk. Here is a review of February's challenged -- stay tuned for March's soon!
Keeping up with our Anxious Generation purposeful play and responsible risk taking challenges, I am inviting you to join in on our February activities. This month, our challenges are:
Purposeful Play Challenge
Winter is always hard because we're often stuck indoors. How can you encourage your children to play differently at home this February? Is there a game you haven't played together in a long time? Have a new game you haven't played yet? A family favorite in my house for a long time was Monopoly Deal - a quick, card game version of the real game. I highly recommend it!
Responsible Risk Taking Challenge
Encourage your child to take one new step into independence. This will look different for children of all ages. For an early elementary kiddo, getting their own breakfast might be a new level of independence. For an upper elementary student, trying to do all of their homework on their own might be new. For a middle school student, maybe it's staying home alone. For a high schooler, maybe it's making their own doctor or dentist appointment. Only you will know what's right for your child, but encourage them to try something they've always done with you or that you've done for them, without you.
