A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Greetings PES families,
I hope this newsletter finds you all staying warm. We appreciate your understanding this week, as our normal school days have been interrupted due to winter weather. I am sure our students were quite excited to have a full snow day yesterday. Snow outside at recess allows for some extra fun. We are excited to celebrate our last day of Winter Kids in the fresh snow. This week’s theme is all about weather and clouds.
Kindness Week ♥️♥️♥️🙂
I am excited to share that our 5th-grade leadership team will be leading a week-long campaign focused on practicing kind acts. Each classroom will have a cup full of kind acts, and teachers will select two “kind acts of the day” to complete. As students perform these kind acts, they will add a smiley face sticker to their hallway bucket, aiming to fill it by the end of the week. Additionally, we will discuss the importance of kindness during our morning announcements each day. Thank you for your support in encouraging kindness in our school community!
Winter Carnival 🪩
Next week, we will celebrate together with another whole school PBIS celebration. Students will rotate in groups through different activities on the morning of February 14th. We don’t want to give away too many special surprises early on….but, we will have a super fun special treat for students to partake in.
2025 Read to Me Challenge đźŹ
During the month of February, the Maine DOE is celebrating the Read to Me Challenge. Read to me encourages parents and caregivers to read to their child/ren for at least fifteen minutes each day. See the link in the newsletter to learn more. In March, we will celebrate Read Across America with some special literary spirit fun for the whole school.
100th Day of School
Feb 13th will mark the 100th day of school. Some classrooms may celebrate this fun event with students. One hundred days of school has certainly flown by fast!
Winter Gear Reminder❄️
Please remember to send your child to school with their winter gear: snow pants, hat, mittens/gloves, a warm jacket, and boots. If your child/ren needs to borrow something from school, please make sure it is returned the next day. We only have so much gear available.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Nina Willette, Principal
REMINDER
During student drop-off from cars in the morning or afternoon pick-up, please leave a car-length opening in the line between cars so that staff/substitute teachers can get in and park or depart for an appointment in the afternoon. Thank you for your help.
