Cozine Climber Updates - May
A Note From Cozine:
Hi Climber Families!
We can't believe how fast time flies! It has been such a great school year! Thank you for all of your support this year. If your student will be returning to Cozine in the fall, please be sure to complete your registration before the end of this school year. This will ensure that your child gets a class placement over the summer and prevents delays in starting next school year.
In Kindness,
Ms. Jodi Notch, Mrs. Lisa Dalton, and Ms. Tamara Martinezjunco (MJ)

2025 Summer Reading Challenge
The Clark County School District is collaborating with public libraries on the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge. Students should continue building literacy skills by reading at least 30 minutes daily during the summer. Students can win prizes by participating in the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge. The school with the most student participation in the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge will receive a trophy. The contest runs through Thursday, July 31, 2025. Visit the Read With Me CCSD website for more information.
Library Books Due
School library books were due Monday, May 5th. If your child still has a library book, please make sure you send it to school as soon as possible so it can be checked in.
Cozine Chess Club
The Cozine Chess Club participated in their very first regional tournament! They played their hearts out and won several medals for the school! We are so proud of the work the Chessers have done to establish Cozine’s first ever Chess Club.
Cozine Garden Club
The Cozine Garden Club exceeded our goal in sales at the Green Our Planet Giant Student Farmer's Market this year! We had $386 in sales! Congratulations to our Cozine entrepreneurs!
The Cozine Sanctuary is still searching for a volunteer that is experienced working with wire to rewire our chicken coop with safer 16-gauge cage wire. This will keep our chicken run safe and will be much sturdier than the chicken wire. We are very flexible on scheduling a time or day! Please reach out if you can help or if you have any questions! pashca@nv.ccsd.net
Cozine Wellness Team
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we want to take this opportunity to share a helpful handout that provides valuable information about mental health—both for your understanding and to support your student. We’ve also added a fun Social Emotional Bingo activity you can enjoy as a family this summer—a great way to connect, build emotional awareness, and support mental well-being together.
In addition, we’ve included a Summer Resource List packed with fun and enriching activities, programs, and local opportunities available throughout the summer break. These resources are designed to keep your student engaged, supported, and active during the months ahead—and also include food assistance programs to help ensure families have access to food all summer long.
If you have any questions or need additional support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Wishing you a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer!
Upcoming Days Off

Restaurant Fundraiser Nights
Thank you for supporting Cozine during our restaurant night fundraisers! We love to see everyone out enjoying dinner or a treat while supporting the school! This money helps us support student involvement programs such as sports, cheerleading, and our garden club.

Families interested in enrolling their children into CCSD Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) programs for the 2024-25 school year must complete this Pre-K INTEREST FORM (CLICK HERE) to be placed on the interest and/or waitlist. CCSD offers more than 13,000 free Pre-K seats in over 600 Early Childhood programs.

REMINDER: Visit the School Library with Your Preschool Student!
Research shows that visiting the library and reading books at home helps preschool students develop vocabulary and early literacy skills. It also fosters a love of reading! Beginning Thursday, January 23rd, the library will be open for parents to bring their Cozine preschool students to check out books. The times will be: 11:45 AM - 12:15 PM and 3:15 PM - 3:45 PM every Thursday.
REMINDER: Cozine Spirit Shirts
We are excited to announce the launch of our online store! This is your place to buy Cozine and House spirit gear! Please click THIS LINK and browse our merchandise. These items are created by a printing company and your orders will be made just for you and delivered to the school to send home with your student.
REMINDER: Marquee Birthday Shoutout
If you would like to have your child's school picture and FIRST NAME ONLY displayed for their BIRTHDAY WEEK (7 days), click THIS LINK to fill out this form, and send $10 CASH to your child's teacher. This money will go toward student incentives we do throughout the year.
No matter when your child's birthday is, you can order now and it will be displayed the entire week of their big day!
REMINDER: Cell Phones and Smart Watches
At Cozine, students are required to keep their personal communication devices off and in their backpacks during instructional hours. Students are permitted to use their phones before and after school. This aligns with District policy that helps prevent bullying, cyber bullying, unfiltered internet access, and cheating. If you have questions about this policy, please reach out to the office or school administration. At this time, we will not be using the signal blocking cell phone pouches at Cozine ES.
REMINDER: Parking at Cozine
Cozine has a small parking lot, and our lot is closed off to general traffic to keep our students safe as they walk to school. CCSD employees, school buses, and anyone holding a valid Handicapped Pass are permitted into our parking lot. Please see Cozine duty personnel if you fall into this category and need to enter the lot.
Also, to keep traffic patterns predictable for students that do walk, we allow traffic to enter our parking lot at the north entrance and exit through the south exit. Our staff enforces this to keep everyone safe, and we appreciate you helping them with this by following this pattern.
