Scholastic Book Fair Week
A huge thank you to all of our students, parents, grandparents and everyone else who came along to support our Pirate book fair this week and especially Kate Corrigan and the crew for the fantastic setup in our library. This is the main fundraiser for our library and enables us to keep up with the 'trends' and have an amazing variety of reading for all of our tamariki.
The week ended with a 'Dress as a book character' today and a fantastic day was had by all. We had Harry Potters, Cat in the Hats, Alice in Wonderland, Queen of Hearts, White Rabbit and Mad Hatters, Darth Vader, Bob the Builders, 101 Dalmations, Wonky Donkey, lots of pirates, cowboys and superheroes and so many more. Dogman even came for a visit.
Check out the photos below. More on the School Blog.
Ruma 4 - Our Town - Lemon & Te Aroha
As part of our Inquiry, Miss Grace organised a visit from 4th generation Te Aroha business owner and re-creator of our famous Lemon & Te Aroha Drink, Mr Richard Revell.
The recipe is over 100 years old and is made from our towns best kept secret - the water from the Mokena Geyser. It is possibly the only hot, carbonated natural soda geyser in the world. The water has natural minerals and has been used for healing, here in Te Aroha for hundreds of years.
We loved having Mr Revell share lots of information about his fantastic drink and also facts about our Town and its history. We learnt lots and look forward to sharing at our Open Day next week.
Our Town Showcase next Friday 27th September
Students have been working hard all of Term 3 on their 'Our Town' showcase projects and we would like to invite everyone to come in to school and wander around classrooms to have a look at the results. All classes will be open from 1.00pm on Friday.
Waikato Full Primary Cross Country Success
Te Aroha turned on a beautiful day on Wednesday, for Stanley Avenue School to host the Waikato Full Primary Cross Country for what will be the last time.
36 schools from around the Waikato entered, coming from as far away as Taumarunui and Whitianga. We had 240 runners competing and battling it our around the wetlands and Boyd Park. This is a fast track and we are delighted to say how proud we are of our own team.
In the Year 8 event, Lucas Gamble came a very commendable 7th and Erik Pollock crossed the line in 12th place.
In the Year 7 event, Tyela Van Kuijk came 7th in a hotly contested race and Xavier Norman did well to come 26th out of 58 runners.
A HUGE congratulations to Lockie Watts who took out 1st place in the Year 7 Boys in a time of 11.08.52 and is the Junior Boys Cross Country Champion for 2024.
A big thank you to Di Meyler for her organisation and for being 'the person' on the day and to Lori Broekhals, Jess Norman, Kristina Watts, Vinnie Narayan (Keeper of the Gazebo) Al Meyler, Kim Hayes, and Paula Klein for marshalling, line judging, recording, starting, and putting out and cleaning away all the gear needed to make this another awesome day. Thank you also to Ronnie Horner (Tail end Charlie) and Sura Ung for helping Mrs Meyler.
Rotary Speech Finals 2024
It was an awesome night at the annual Rotary Speech Finals last night. Our students did an outstanding job at Te Aroha Primary against tough competition from around the Te Aroha district. They represented themselves, and Stanley Avenue School, extremely well and should all be proud of their efforts!
Congratulations to Emma Waterman for taking second place in the Year 6 category, and Tyela Van Kuijk for taking second place for the Year 7s. Ka pai!
Friendship Zone - Rohe Whakahoa- Week 9
Week 9 is all about being a pirate. On Thursday, children pretended to walk the colorful plank and build a pirate ship out of blocks. Lots of energy and imagination on display!

Riding for the Disabled Fundraiser
Riding for the Disabled has a long-established history in New Zealand, providing therapeutic riding programmes to those with physical, intellectual, emotional or social challenges. Last year, we spoke to Rotary Morrinsville Cambridge RDA, with the goal being to raise awareness and reinvigorate community support for the Te Aroha & Cambridge Riding for the Disabled Groups. As a not-for-profit organisation, continual fundraising is required to meet the cost of running the therapeutic riding programmes.
What will the event look like? Just good old fashioned fun!
Bring your picnic and enjoy a family day out with live music, sausage sizzle, garden walks, games for the young and the young at heart, karaoke, garden trail, quad bike rides, a visit from Marvellous Monty and more.
