A Message from the School Board of Directors

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the children, families, and taxpayers of the Upper Darby School District. As part of the School Board communication plan, the Board sends monthly updates to the school community. The information included in these briefs is not intended to be complete and does not replace official Board minutes. Official meeting minutes, agendas, reports, and presentations are available at BoardDocs. Also, the Board meetings are live streamed to the District's Official UDSD Board & Board Committee Meetings YouTube Channel. We welcome you to follow the issues the School Board is considering and to attend meetings to stay informed.

District Juneteenth Celebration 2024

Upper Darby School District presents a Juneteenth Celebration! June 19th commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. Join us on June 19th at the district’s YouTube channel in honor of the national holiday.

Community Bulletin Board

According to the National Education Association, "when schools, parents, families, and communities work together to support learning, students tend to earn high grades, attend school more regularly, stay in school longer, and enroll in higher level programs." (NEA May, 2016). Community support, partnership, and engagement with and in schools in important and necessary for our children's success. The Upper Darby School District welcomes community members and neighbors from the Upper Darby Township, Clifton Heights Borough, and Millbourne Borough to visit our Community Bulletin Board regularly for news and updates regarding events, activities, resources, and supports happening and available in and around the School District community. May Meeting Highlights

2024-2025 Budget Update – Informational

District Administration provided an update on the 2024-2025 Budget. The presentation revisited timelines, historical data and potential changes to the Final Budget. Click here to view the presentation.

UDSD Committee for Student Safety and Well-Being – Informational

Dr. Gregory Manfre, Dr. Brian Ursone, and Mrs. Kelley Simone presented the goals of the District’s ongoing plan to address student well-being and safety: K-12 discipline, attendance, mental health, social media, and the use of cell phones while in school. U.S. Department of Education Title IX Regulations Update – Informational

Dr. John Council, Mrs. Kimisha Simpson, and Mrs. Wendy Elgart highlighted some key updates in the new final Title IX regulations issued by the U.S. Department of Education. These new regulations, which govern sex discrimination complaints in educational institutions, include changes to the prior Title IX regulations issued in 2020. They clarify defined terms, expand the geographical scope, modify the investigative process, and include protections for sexual orientation, gender identity, and pregnancy/lactation under Title IX. Wellness Policy Annual Update – Informational

Dr. Brian Ursone and Mrs. Nina Tyre provided an update on the work accomplished by the wellness committee for the 2023-2024 school year. This annual update follows Policy 246. Click here to view the District Wellness Committee Annual Report presentation.
