Veterans Day
While I plan to enjoy the day tomorrow and spend time visiting my dad's grave it is important to remember that Veterans Day is not just a holiday for people to get to sleep in late and spend the day relaxing. Some may have forgotten the history of Veterans Day so I wanted to give you a reminder.
World War I, AKA "The Great War" had a cease fire between Germany and Allied nations on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. So, November 11, 1918 is now known as the end of "the war to end all wars." However, the official end date of World War I was June 28, 1919 when the Treaty of Versailles was signed.
So, tomorrow while some of you take a much needed break please take a moment to remember all of our Veterans and the sacrifices they have made for our country and the freedoms we all enjoy today. We are forever in their debt. We may not always agree with our governments or our leaders, but we all have been impacted by the sacrifices of these heroes.
On Wednesday, we will honor our JMS Veterans with a luncheon. If you are a Veteran please make sure you have signed up through the QR code on this flyer.
Beanstack Updates
Our staff outread our students this week! Congratulations to all of our outstanding readers! Kaley Adsitt was our student high reader for the week and our 8th grade students are not too far behind the staff in reading minutes.
The staff is throwing down the challenge to our students! The grade level that outreads the staff will participate in a staff vs. student basketball or volleyball game. The game will take place the day before we get out for our break in December. For students that don't want to participate or watch the game we will have an alternative activity for them. This is the students' chance to show up the staff not only in reading minutes but on the court as well!
PTO
Our PTO is asking for help. They do so much for our staff and for the kids throughout the year and these are a few ways we can help them. They have several things coming up that they need people to sign up for. If you are interested in helping out please select the correct link below.
Pies, pies, pies. Each year our PTO supplies each staff member with a pie for Thanksgiving. If you are interested in helping with a pie please click on the link. Pies
Concession Stand opportunities. If you are interested in working a concession stand that benefits our staff and students please sign upon through the link provided. Concession Stand
Our PTO is also hosting a Family Bonfire Night where families can make smores or enjoy a hotdog and relax with friends and families around the bonfire. If you are interested in helping with this great community event please sign up. Family Bonfire
We are still collecting new or gently used shoes that will be donated to people in need. There is a box set up in the foyer of the school to drop off the shoes.
Great ways to give back to our students and staff!

A note from your principal
Happy Sunday! Man, this weather is absolutely gorgeous! I truly hope all of you are enjoying this beautiful weather and are able to spend some time relaxing with your families.
We had so much fun last week with Homecoming week and all of the dress up days. I saw some great things and was so excited to see so many smiling faces. We should all be back to normal dress code starting Tuesday. Please make sure no shoulders or midriffs are showing and shorts are appropriate length.
Only two weeks until Thanksgiving break and until we will be 2/3 of the way through the nine-weeks! Please encourage your student to continue to work hard, attend tutoring as needed and ask questions.
Often as we approach holidays our student attendance drops off some. Please know that it's important for students to be in class as much as possible. When they miss instruction it is very difficult for them to get caught up. Of course, if they are sick we want them to stay home and feel better. If your student has to be out please contact our office and let our attendance clerk know.
In partnership,
Mrs. Mendoza
