Our Lubbock-Cooper Pirate Football team has advanced to the State Semi-Final game. They will be playing South Oak Cliff High School on Friday, December 10 at 7:30pm at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene.

It is going to be a fast TWO weeks until the Christmas break, so please encourage your child to stay on top of their grades. Students can get help from their teachers each morning from 7:55-8:10am or after school. It is important that all assignments are turned in on time.

The LCMS Winter Dance has been canceled due to the football State Semi-Final game. We will reschedule in January.

On Monday, Dec. 6, students will receive their exemption card during first period. They will have until Tuesday, Dec. 7 to clear up any library fines they still have.

All students are required to take all finals unless they meet the following criteria:

• 75 average or above in the class.
• Students are responsible for getting semester averages and teacher signatures for any class they wish to exempt.
• Students are responsible for having a parent sign the exemption form before turning it in. THE FORM IS NOT VALID WITHOUT PARENT SIGNATURE.

• Forms due December 9 by 4pm. Late forms will NOT forms accepted.

Please note, students will LOSE exemption status due to any of the following:

● The student has outstanding debt (students will have the ability to pay debts to gain exemption).

● No more than three tardies (fall semester) in any single block class or five tardies (fall semester) for double-blocked classes for the period you want to exempt.

● No more than three or more unexcused absences in any period or five unexcused absences for double-blocked classes for the period you want to exempt.

What is an Unexcused Absence?

For the purpose of losing the ability to exempt a final, an unexcused absence is any absence that has been coded U-U in Skyward. A U-U is recorded when:

• the middle school attendance office has no record from a parent/guardian for why the student did not attend a class.
• attendance office staff makes attempts to contact a parent/guardian when a U-U has been recorded. If unable to reach a parent/guardian, the absence remains a U-U.

December 10 and 13 - elective reviews (full day/regular bell schedule)

December 14 and 15 - elective finals, core reviews (full day/regular bell schedule)

December 16 - core finals and exempt day for those qualifying

• Regular bell schedule
• ONLY EXEMPTION DAY if student meets qualifications

December 17 - make up day for those who have missed a final

• Early release day - 8:15am-12:45pm
• MAKE UP FINALS OR EXEMPTION DAY if student meets qualifications

Our Band will be performing on Wednesday, December 8 in the PAC. Come join us! our students have worked hard to prepare for this performance, and you will be filled with Christmas spirit!

Lubbock-Cooper Fine Arts organizations invite you to the first ever Treasure Hunt Through the Arts! Each elementary campus, both middle schools, and LCHS will be showcasing more than 300 pieces of visual art, dance, theatre, vocal performance, and instrumental groups from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22 at the PAC! Please have your student return unsold drawing tickets to the office so we can continue to sell them. Also, please return drawing stubs to the box in office. Payments and tickets are due December 13. Drawing will be December 15.
