The Lady Arrows Are on FIRE!
The Sullivan Lady Arrows faced off against Spencer last Saturday with an impressive 52 -31 victory. In the game, senior Jacie Wilson showcased her skills early by contributing significantly to the team's 19-6 lead after the first quarter and a 33-18 advantage at halftime, tallying 20 points and 10 rebounds in just the first half. Wilson credited her teammates for their teamwork and effective passing, emphasizing the importance of their collective effort in securing the win. The team's strong start was facilitated by a quick 11-0 run after Owen Valley initially scored, with Wilson and teammate Ally McKinney combining for 18 points in the opening quarter.
The Sullivan defense played a crucial role in the victory, forcing 32 turnovers and recording 20 steals, with Goodman leading the charge with seven steals. Coach Edmondson praised the defensive effort and noted the importance of leveraging the team’s experience against a younger Owen Valley squad. Although some key players faced foul trouble, the bench stepped up, contributing to a well-rounded team performance. Sullivan looks to maintain its momentum as it heads into challenging matchups against Class 3A No. 3 ranked Washington and conference rival Edgewood later in the week.

SMS Students Receive First Aide Training
On November 18, 2024, Sullivan Middle School hosted a CPR Hands Only and AED training session for 7th and 8th graders, led by Janis Hughbanks, Director of Education at Sullivan County Community Hospital. This initiative aims to equip students with the skills and confidence to act in emergency situations, ensuring they know how to perform CPR and locate an AED. Last year, the school participated in the American Heart Challenge, receiving training kits for CPR & First Aid in Youth Sports and CPR in Schools, which utilize a practice-while-watching technique to enhance learning. The curriculum includes topics such as Hands-Only CPR, choking responses for adults and children, and sports injury first aid, covering issues like dehydration, heat-related illnesses, overuse injuries, bone breaks, and concussions.
