Minshew Families -

The end of the 1st quarter has arrived! Report cards will be coming home at the end of this week. November 5th is identified as a day for parent conferences for elementary, so please mark your calendar. More information will be coming from your classroom teacher regarding this day.

Friday, October 18th is a big day at Minshew. We will begin our day with Colt Round-up. The theme for this Colt Round-up is Team Minshew! Be sure to have your student decked out in their Minshew spirit wear as we team up for a great celebration of our awesome school! That evening, we will have a tailgate before the Minshew Night at the McKinney Boyd game. Be sure to look at the information below for all of the details. This is a fun tradition that began last year, and we look forward to our Dad’s Crew helping to grill hot dogs for everyone.

I hope you enjoy your extended break with your family, and we look forward to seeing your Colt on Wednesday, October 16th as we kick off the 2nd quarter!

The CDC website, https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/breast/, has valuable information on breast cancer symptoms, facts and how to lower your risk for breast cancer. According to the CDC, other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women.

Getting mammograms regularly can lower the risk of dying from breast cancer. The United States Preventive Services Task Force recommends that if you are 50 to 74 years old, be sure to have a screening mammogram every two years. If you are 40 to 49 years old, talk to your doctor about when to start and how often to get a screening mammogram.

• Attendance is taken at 9:15 am every day.
• Students are tardy if not in the classroom at 8:00 am.
• The BACK entrance is locked at 8:00 am. All visitors or tardy students must enter through the front door.
• Students coming in after 9:15 am are marked absent.
• Absence notes or emails must be sent within 3 days of the absence to the front office at: MinshewOffice@mckinneyisd.net or via the MISD Report An Absence form.
