LEAD After-School 2nd Semester
One new class, tutoring, and the rest of Trimester 2!
Picking up where we left off--with a couple of options
As a reminder, we resume classes on Tuesday, Jan. 5th. The only class that is changing is Archery/Leadership, which students completed at the end of the semester. Parents and students will be receiving an email with Archery/Leadership grades. If you don't get an email, feel free to call 864-2600.
On Tuesday, the archery class is transitioning to a new class--Winter Wilderness--that combines avalanche-survival training, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snow science. Space is limited and additional students who sign up could be put on a waiting list--so sign up immediately!
For everyone else who is in an after-school class, we are continuing Trimester 2 which ends February 11th. This trimester had a lot of interruptions, so it is even more important students get back to the grind-stone on Tuesday and do not miss any after-school sessions except for when it cannot be helped (please call the office for excused absences).
Also, Summit students who did not pass a class or classes first or second quarter should sign up for after-school tutoring--unless they were so far behind that it is better to retake the entire course. We have multiple tutors in-person after-school four days a week, and we also have a virtual tutor for remote tutoring two days a week. Sign up below!
All ABLE seniors who are at risk of not graduating on time should be also signed up for after-school classes OR tutoring--if they do not have a job or major home responsibilities immediately after school. After-school classes and tutoring increase a senior's chance of graduating on time or early significantly. We have many success stories.
Finally, in the interest of improving this program, we have a survey linked to this newsletter for all parents of students who took an after-school class last semester, or were enrolled in after-school tutoring. We only need one parent response per household. Even though COVID-19 prevents a lot of in-person community interaction, we would like to still keep families involved in the success of our program through feedback and communication.

After School Tutoring
Those students already enrolled in an after-school class can ask their teacher to take time out of their class to go to tutoring to wrap up their classes.
