CV Celebrates Red Ribbon Week
What is Red Ribbon Week?
RED RIBBON WEEK is Celebrated Annually October 23-31. Red Ribbon Week highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year.
What is the story behind the red ribbon?
The Red Ribbon was used as an awareness symbol made by after DEA Agent Enrique Camarena was killed while working undercover in Guadalajara, Mexico. Citizens in his home town of Calexico, California donned the ribbons to emphasize the need for increased prevention efforts
CV students are encouraged to dress the theme for RRW each day to signify their choice to living a drug-free life.

Monday: Wear Red for a Good Life Ahead (wear RED)
Tuesday: "Say Goodnight to Drugs" (Pajama Day)
Wednesday: "Team Up Against Drugs" (wear a sports jersey OR dress like a CV staff member or parent)
Thursday: "Life is a Movie..Film Drug Free" (Dress like a movie Character)
Friday: "Sock it Drugs" (not attending dance = Crazy Socks, attending dance = Rhyme without reason OR wear Orange, Black, Purple, Green)
Fright Fest Dance, Nov 1st: 12:40 - 2:10pm
Join your fellow Vikings at CVs "Fright Fest Dance" on November 1st from 12:40 - 2:10pm (minimum day)! The school dance is for 7th and 8th grade students!
What to expect:
Music provided by our amazing DJ
Snacks and drinks
Photo booth, games, raffles, activities, and prizes
Lots of fun!
What to Wear:
Your shirt can be a “Rhyme Without Reason” with a buddy, or an orange, black, purple, or green t-shirt or collared shirt to be part of our spirit day! (no tank tops or cropped shirts). All shirt designs must be appropriate! You may also wear your school uniform.
You should wear normal bottoms. NO OPEN-TOE SHOES/SANDALS ALLOWED
STUDENTS NOT FOLLOWING DRESS CODE WILL BE ASKED TO CHANGE TO BE ALLOWED INTO THE DANCE.
Ticket Information: (signed permission slip needed to purchase tickets)
- Dance bracelets are $6.00 with ASB Card and $8.00 without
- Bracelets will be on sale from Friday, October 25 to Thursday, October 31 online
- OR at CV before school, nutrition, during lunch, and after school!

Too Much Halloween Candy??
Did you bring home too much halloween candy? Would you like to donate your overabundance of candy?
Monday, November 4th - November 8th, CV's Main Office will have a box for donated candy.
The candy will be utilized for classrooms and provided to a program that supports our military!

Games Begin Monday, November 4th!
All athletes looking to try-out for after school sports need to turn in a Sports Waiver form to the coaches. Sports Waivers can be found here OR picked-up from their PE teachers.
Middle School X-Country Race - November 6th
The annual Middle School X-Country Race will be held on November 6th at Santiago Charter Middle School.
Girls race will begin at 3:00
Boys race will begin at 3:30
Students will travel by school bus, which will leave CV at 2:00. Please check in with your Physical Education Teacher for details! Let's Go CV!
