WAYS TO USE QR CODES IN SCHOOL

Learning in Hand #25: QR Codes
THIS IS ONE OF MY KINDER STUDENTS FROM A COUPLE YEARS AGO.
In class we were learning about dinosaurs. All students got to create their own dinosaur and write a story about it. Then I made a video of them reading it and linked it to a qr code. In the video you will notice the codes behind her. These codes were out in the hall so that visitors could scan them and listen to the dino stories.
I used an iPhone to make the video and just hit a button to send it to my Youtube Channel. Click on share and copy the link. Paste the link into the QR Code Generator and print the code. Hang it where ever you want.

Below is a VOCAB word that has a QR Voice Code on it.
Scan the code to hear the word, definition, and sentence.
One of my students scanning the voice code to the VOCAB word TREMENDOUS
All of Mr. Mac's VOCAB words were in a binder for the kids to learn. QR Voice Codes were on most of the words. It didn't take too long for the kids to stop scanning the code and just read it themselves.
Add QR CODES to your MATH JOURNALS
Scan it to see a video. LOVE THIS!
BOOK TALKS OR BOOK TRAILERS
Below is an example from a TPT site.
Students can make the videos for books in the library or in your classroom. Paste the QR Codes in the books and other students can get info about the book.

TEACHER FAVORITE BOOK VIDEO
Would be cool if each teacher in the school did a book talk video on their favorite book in the library. Then post it to Youtube and make a QR CODE of the video. Paste it in the book and watch have fast those books get checked it.
Students will love it and it will promote READING!

THE FRONT WINDOW OF MY ROOM IN COPPELL
I used a lot of QR CODES to let people know what I was doing in class.
3D SHAPES
This code took my students to my quizlet page about 3d shapes. Believe it or not, these were spelling words my class did.
LANDFORMS
This code took my students to my quizlet page about Landforms. Believe it or not, these were also spelling words my class did.
MATH APP SYMBALOO
This is a Symbaloo of math apps that parents could scan and get the apps for the class.
MINI POSTERS/PERSONAL ANCHOR CHARTS (above pic)
These mini posters were on each table for the students to refer to if they needed an idea for a journal entry or needed help spelling something, etc...
To extend what they could learn or to allow them to be independent I added a QR CODE that would take them to Quizlet or Spelling City. Both of these sites have a speaker feature that would read the words if needed.

WEBSITE POSTERS (below pic)
Students could get to sites faster on their devices by scanning the posters on the wall. These posters were also available at there desk in a smaller size.
