2024-2025 Cellphone and Earbud/ Headphone Policy:
As we look forward to the start of the 2024 – 2025 school year, CSHS is aligning our campus electronics policy impacting cellphones and earbuds/headphones with other CCISD high schools.
Cell phones and headphones continue to be a major distraction during the instructional period for students. While current district policy allows students to bring their cell phones to school, students at Clear Springs High School are required to put their phones and earbuds/headphones on silent and in a designated area when entering classrooms. Students are not allowed to have cell phones or earbuds/headphones out or in their pockets during instructional periods. Exceptions will be made with a medical note from a doctor and communication with the school nurse.
Chargers are expected to model Core Values at all times. By placing cell phones out of sight, our Chargers can stay actively engaged in their own learning and are demonstrating Responsibility and Respect.
For students who choose not to meet these expectations or who continue to have difficulty avoiding distraction the following consequences will occur and will start over every nine week period:
1st offense: Verbal Warning
2nd offense: Teacher will confiscate cellphone/earbuds/headphones and return at the end of the class period.
3rd offense: Phone turned into front office, $15 fee given and a parent or guardian must pick up the phone. Referral submitted to student's Assistant Principal. The district is not responsible for damaged, lost or stolen equipment or devices per board policy found on page 64 in the CCISD Student Handbook.
Cell phone use in locker rooms and bathrooms is specifically prohibited, as is filming/photographing others without their consent. Failure to meet these expectations will be considered digital citizenship violations and may incur disciplinary consequences for bullying or harassment up to and including placement at DAEP or expulsion.
Please have a conversation with your student(s) to prepare them for when they come back to campus. Remember students will have access to their devices before school, during passing periods, lunch, and after school for necessary communication.
CTE Travel
Students in a CTE Specialty off campus course will travel on the first day of school August 14th. An email with travel guidelines and a required form has been emailed to students enrolled in a CTE Specialty off campus course. Students riding the bus to CVHS for Welding, Cosmetology or Certified Nursing will receive additional information by email with the bus route #, times and pick up location prior to the first day of school.
Email Lsmith@ccisd.net if you have any questions regarding an off-campus travel.
