Review:

In February, we hosted our Route 5/6 Activity Night on a snow day! It was lots of fun! The 5th graders were able to meet some of our current AMS students and make some new friends from other schools.

We also hosted the Black History Month Celebration in February. We had an amazing turnout with families from throughout the Avondale Community.

Last week we hosted the 5th grade Parent Information Sessions. We had a nice turnout of wonderful famiies. If you were unable to attend, we have linked the information provided below. Just click the buttons to access slideshows and handouts.

On March 5th, Mrs. Echols, the middle school counselor for the class of 2032, will make elementary school visits to Deerfield, Graham and Woodland to explain the scheduling process and distribute scheduling forms to all 5th grade students. They will visit Auburn on Friday. Students will submit these forms to their 5th grade teachers and we will then begin to build their middle school schedules! If you came to the Parent Info Night, you already received the form and may have already turned it in. You do not need to do this again. The forms are also linked below.

The Best Thing:

The Best Thing is hard to choose becuase we have had so many great activities and opportunities to get to know our new 6th graders. I have to say that the best thing was hosting the Route 5/6 Activity Night. We had so many current students who were excited to share their AMS experiences and it is wonderful to see the growth between the incoming 6th graders and our outgoing 8th graders. Great things are happening here!

Scheduling

Mrs. Schneider and Mrs. Echols will be visiting all elementary schools for scheduling visits this week. At that time, students will choose band or choir and be able to give one exploratory preference.

MS Band Update

Due to our last snow day, our Instrument Petting Zoo was cancelled. The band boosters and teachers are meeting today to look at rescheduling. Remember, we offer beginner, intermediate and advanced band options. If your student didn't choose band as a 5th grader, they can still choose that option.
