The days of summer are drawing to a close and the Shaw Elementary Staff is working hard to prepare school for another amazing year. The 22-23 year was full of student and teacher growth, engaging projects, friendships and fun. But this year, is on track to be even better! Our school is applying to be an Arkansas Model STEM School. What does this mean for your child? More integration to make learning more relevant, problem-solving and creativity embedded, engaging and meaningful projects, more collaboration and communication skills, and more FUN while learning!

As you plan for the return of school, please know that our staff is here to serve you and your family in the best way possible. Teachers are already setting up their classrooms, and administrators and office staff are planning for back to school. More information about arrival and dismissal procedures will be coming soon.

Things to do:

• A letter should arrive in the mail to update any needed registration information. Please complete this to give us accurate information.
• Purchase School Supplies at local stores. Please follow the school supply chart linked above. Some of the local vendors have incorrect lists for local schools.
• Be watching Facebook/Instagram for an announcement about class lists. These will be posted at school before the Ice Cream Social.
• Bring school supplies to the Ice Cream Social. Here you will also be able to join PTA, buy school t-shirts, and meet your teachers.
• Sign-up for email newsletter below.
• If your child will be a bus rider, sign up for the new bus tracking system. You should receive an email and/or text.
• Be sure to follow us on Facebook (Shaw Elementary) and Instagram (shawshiningstars) for up-to-date information.
