PARENT SCHOOL CLIMATE SURVEY
The survey is open to all parents/guardians, through Monday, April 14th. If you have children in multiple buildings, you may take the survey more than once. Each time you take the survey, it will ask for the building and grade level your child attends.
The data you provide may also be used by the school and district to better understand the current climate in the school(s) your child(ren) attends. Your answers will be combined with the answers of other parents at the school and district levels, and used to create records about the climate of our schools. These reports will not identify any person or their responses.
1ST GRADE SCIENCE
First grade is learning about light and sound in our science unit. This week we answered the question “What if there were no windows?”. We all realized our homes and school would be a lot darker if there weren’t any. To explore the concept of light, we discussed how the windows in our school are transparent and that other materials can be opaque, and some translucent. The students enjoyed working with a partner to organize materials that were given to them into the three categories.
PEER 2 PEER
Our 6th grade Peer 2 Peer students on the annual bowling field trip at Imperial Lanes. The students had a great time bowling and mingling with the other elementary schools. Our Peer 2 Peer students are great role models within the school and we have a fun time celebrating them every year during the field trip.

Thank You Emerson PTO for the Recess Fun!
We want to give a huge thank you to our amazing PTO for their donation of new recess items! Thanks to their support, our students are now enjoying brand-new basketballs, soccer balls, jump ropes, etc.—and they couldn't be more excited.
On our most recent sunny day, the playground was buzzing with energy and laughter. 3rd grade students raced to try out the new gear, organizing soccer games, basketball shootouts, and jump rope challenges. It was heartwarming to see so many smiling faces and so much teamwork and creativity in action.
These donations are making a big difference in our students’ day. Not only are they getting active and having fun, but they’re also building friendships, learning new skills, and making the most of every sunny recess.
Thank you again to Emerson PTO for making recess even more special. We appreciate all you do!

Canvas
CANVAS LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM!
All students, grades Young 5s-12 use Canvas, a learning management system. Classroom teachers use Canvas to provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments for students, as well as parent communication.
Parents are encouraged to set up a parent/observer account to stay abreast of student learning. Canvas will allow parents to:
- Contact their child’s teacher
- View grades, due dates, and events
- See, and in many cases access, what the child is doing at school
- Support an absent student
- View classroom and building announcements
