August 12, 2024
Hello Penn London!
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We hope everyone enjoyed the summer and we are looking forward to welcoming students to school on Monday, 8/26! At Penn London, we focus on our primary learners and meeting their needs socially, emotionally, and academically! We know that you are entrusting us with your most precious gift and we are honored to have that responsibility. This is going to be a wonderful year, PLES!
Please review the important dates and information below as you prepare for the start of the year.
Elementary office hours are 7:45 - 4:15.
Teacher Assignments are now available in PowerSchool.
Wednesday, 8/21: Back to School Night @ 6:00 (This event is for caregivers only.)
Thursday, 8/22: Meet the Teacher
Students with Last Names A-K 12:30-1:30
Students with Last Names L-Z 2:00-3:00
Monday, 8/26: First Day of School!
Meet the Teacher: This event is for students and families to meet their teacher, explore the classroom, and walk around the school! If you have students at AGIS and PLES park once and then walk between buildings. During this event you may notice bulletin boards that are incomplete or classrooms that are not fully set up. This is intentional. We want students to have an active role in setting up their classrooms in collaboration with their teacher once school starts. We value our students’ voices and want them to share ownership in creating a welcoming and ideal learning environment.
Transportation: Bussing information will be communicated by the transportation department via email this week. Please be sure to be at the stop 10-15 minutes prior to your assigned time. A caregiver must be present at the stop in the afternoon to receive kindergarten students off the bus. If a caregiver is not present, the student will be brought back to school for the family to pick up. First graders may be brought back to school if a caregiver is not present and the student is uncomfortable getting off the bus alone.
School Supply Lists can be found on the right hand side of the PLES website. Write your student’s FULL NAME on their backpack, lunchbox, and any other items.
Technology: An email from the technology department containing usernames and passwords has been sent. If you do not receive an email, please contact the main office.
Drop Off/Pick Up: Please be patient with the amount of traffic on campus and follow the directions of those on traffic duty. Have a sign in your car window with your student’s full name and grade.
Families with students at AGIS and PLES should drop off AGIS students first by entering the campus via Route 896. You will then have to leave the campus, turn right, and enter the PLES side at the entrance by Quimby Road. Next, turn left onto the PLES side of campus and snake through the front parking lot and proceed to the front of the building.
Please pull all the way to the end of the sidewalk near the District Office and have students ready to exit the car. Students should be seated on the passenger side and may exit the car on their own. Drivers, please remain in your car while dropping off and picking up and stay in the line of traffic. For everyone’s safety, please do not pull around other cars in the carline. All traffic leaving PLES must turn right onto Route 796.
Drop Off begins at 8:20am daily. Students are expected to be in classrooms by 8:35am.
Pick Up begins at 3:20pm daily. Students are expected to be picked up by 3:40pm.
Attendance: Attendance information, including reporting absences, can be found here.
We hope everyone enjoys the remaining days of summer!
Can’t wait to see you!

PBIS and Bucket Filling
PLES is a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) school! PBIS teaches students the expected behaviors and encourages positive behaviors with Bucket Bucks rewards.
Part of our program is the message of being bucket fillers based on the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today? We encourage students and staff to be kind, to be a helper, and to fill each other’s buckets. PLES Bucket Fillers take care of ourselves, others and our school!
