BHS Happenings
March 21, 2025
Dear BHS Parents and Guardians:
Quarter 3 will close on Tuesday, March 25th and report cards will be available on your PowerSchool Parent Portal for your review. Please make sure you are not only reviewing your child's grades but also their attendance. Students in grades 9-11 who lose credit in a class due to attendance, will need to attend summer school to have their credit reinstated. Any 12th grade student who loses credit based on attendance will need to schedule an attendance appeal. If you have any questions regarding your students attendance points, please contact our attendance clerk, Ms. Nekisha Franklin at 860-286-2630.
We hope to see all of our parents next week for Parent Teacher Conferences.

BHS Agri-Science Students Participate in Blue Moon Raptors - Birds of Prey Presentation
On Wednesday, March 19th, students from BHS' Donald F. Harris Sr. Agri-Science Center participated in a presentation by Blue Moon Raptors. Blue Moon Raptors is a non-profit organization whose mission is to rehabilitate ill, injured, and orphaned birds of prey to return them back to their natural habitat, where they will continue to enrich the environment. This program hopes to educate, and promote the protection of wildlife and our environment for future generations. Thank you Mrs. Jarvis for setting up this amazing presentation where students were able to not only learn about different raptors but see them.
BHS' French and Spanish Honor Society Explores Cultural Cuisine at Parkville Market
On Thursday, March 20th students inducted into the French or Spanish Honor Society at BHS visited Parkville Market to explore the numerous cultural cuisine options offered to the community. Parkville Market is the first and largest food hall in Connecticut, where patrons get the opportunity to taste flavors from around the world. Thank you to Ms. Rodriguez for organizing this wonderful trip and providing students with an opportunity to explore outside of their norm.
BHS Celebrates Literacy Week With a Week Full of Events
The Week of March 3rd through 7th, BHS students participated in Literacy Week by engaging in numerous literacy centered events. BHS was proud to host local authors Joe Young, Jonathan Garcia-Rodrigues, and Ethan Morander to speak to our high school students about their novels and the process of getting a book published. Garcia-Rodrigues and Morander are both graduates of Bloomfield High School.
BHS students also got the opportunity to return to Metacomet and Laurel to read to students. This gave our high school students the opportunity to read to students in classrooms they once sat in and give back to the community. It was an enriching experience for both our students and those students being read to.
