Band Festival
Congratulations Mr. Nurse and 7th/8th Grade Band Students!
Last Thursday, our 7th and 8th grade band students went to Warren Woods Tower High School to perform in our first ever MSBOA District 16 Band Festival. The students prepared 3 musical works as well as played a piece of music they have never seen before. During these performances, the students were judged by professional musicians and given both individual and overall ratings.
We are happy to share that the GATE Magnet School Wind Symphony achieved straight 1's - or a Superior rating - the highest score we could achieve! I am so proud of all of these students' hard work and we cannot wait to continue the standard of musical excellence that we have now begun.
Musically,
Mr. Jacob Nurse

This week our Math Olympiads took their final exam! By late May we have national results and will have a party to celebrate these funny, sweet, and diligent mathematicians we were so fortunate to host this year. Thank you for sharing your students with us each week. It was wonderful getting to know them and see their passion and creativity for the numbers. They all have much to be proud of!
Sincerely,

Spring Conference at Avondale High School
