Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast
November 10th, 2024
Message from the Principal
Phoenix Family,
We are excited to announce the start of our 'Phoenixes on Fire' recognition program! Through this initiative, we celebrate students who have demonstrated our Phoenix Strategies for Success and were nominated by their teachers. The Phoenix Strategies include:
- Find Your Vision
- Work Hard
- No Excuses
- Learn from Failure
- Be Grateful
Congratulations to our standout students for exemplifying the Phoenix Strategies for Success! We would also like to recognize our men’s and women’s soccer teams, who volunteered on Friday at Compass Church for the Meal Marathon. Giving back to the community is especially meaningful during this month of gratitude—thank you to our teams for their dedication and service!
Many thanks to Mr. Geer and the Collegiate Academy Leadership students for organizing our annual homecoming! At Collegiate Academy, students enjoy the best of both worlds—the opportunity to earn their associate degree while still experiencing memorable high school traditions like homecoming.
Finally, I was honored to accept our National Blue Ribbon School award in Washington, D.C., on behalf of our incredible school. Parents, I want to emphasize what a remarkable achievement this is for our staff and students. Out of over 123,000 public, private, and charter schools nationwide—and more than 8,500 in Texas alone—only 107 schools in Texas met the criteria for nomination based on advanced student performance and closing achievement gaps. Out of those, GCISD Collegiate Academy at TCC Northeast was one of just 31 schools selected. I am truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve this outstanding school.
All In, All Together,
Mrs. Jackson
Student Safety
The safety and security of our Phoenixes is a top priority at Collegiate Academy. During inclement weather or emergency situations, communicating effectively with students and families is crucial.
Thrillshare
In cases of inclement weather, students should take cover in whatever building they are located in at the time. Administrators will communicate any specific information via Thrillshare, which will send a SMS text and an email to parent and student phones.
Alertus App
We encourage parents and students to download the Alertus app to get up-to-date information about any emergencies on campus. Alertus allows authorized dispatchers to quickly send emergency notification alerts to faculty, staff, students, or personnel via Android or iOS tablets or smartphones.

U.S. History Field Trip - November 15th
On Friday November 15, Mr. Plotkowski's 2nd and 6th period U.S. History students and Ms. Haney's Current Issues and Events and Social Studies teams will take a field trip by bus to the Bush Presidential Library. We will leave from Collegiate Academy at 10:00 a.m. to travel to the Bush Library. After our tour at 1:45, we will leave the Bush Library to return. On the return trip back, we will drop students off at Collegiate Academy and Mustang-Panther Stadium. The cost of the trip is free, but students will need to bring a sack lunch or buy a lunch from Mr. Brian. Field trip forms were given out in class last week and were due on Friday, If your student did not bring his/her form, please have them take it to Mr. Plotkowski on Monday. Also, Ms,. Haney emailed a Google form last week asking students to let us know if they will order a lunch or bring their own lunch, The Google Form must be completed by your student by Monday since Mr. Brian will need time to get the food needed for the ordered lunches. The form also asks students to indicate their drop off point on the return trip from the Bush Museum.
Please email Mr. Plotkowski at travis.plotkowski@gcisd.net or Kristinia Haney at kristinia.haney@gcisd.net with any questions.
