Internet Safety for Teens and Parents
Teens and/or their parents are welcome to join our presenter Kim Maercklein, from the NYS Division of Consumer Protections, to learn about Internet Safety for Young Adults! This presentation will be sure to set teens up for success as they enter a more independent part of their lives. What we post on the internet is forever, our goal is to help teens learn how to curate a responsible, positive digital footprint.
Shorts and Stouts at Bound by Fate
Introducing Shorts and Stouts, a short story book club partnership with our friends at Bound by Fate! Join us at the Bound by Fate Taproom on the third Thursday of the month at 5pm for some good conversation, craft beers, and lao food.
Our story for July is "A Vintage from Atlantis" by Clark Ashton Smith and it can be found here. Participants can read the short story beforehand or we will also have copies available to read at the library and at the meeting.
Book and Cookbook Club
Book Club will be meeting on July 24th at 7pm in the Reading Room. Our book this month is Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter. If you would like to participate, come by the library and pick up a copy of the book, we have them on hold.
Registration is not required for Book or Cookbook Club. We hope to see you there!
Closings
The library will be closed on Thursday, July 4th in observation of Independence Day.
Staff Picks
Question of the Month!
We're back with another Question of the Month. With the Summer Olympics beginning this month, we opted to ask the staff: "What is your favorite summer Olympic sport to watch?"
Caitlin: "Swimming"
Julie: "I am always impressed by Olympic diving!"
Holly: "I don't think I've ever watched the summer Olympics. But after looking it up, I think watching gymnastics, Judo, or fencing sounds interesting!"
Emilly: "I am a big fan of the gymnastics and the swimming."
Jessica: "I would watch sailing."
Beth: "I'm really looking forward to watching volleyball, mostly court but also beach."
Brandi: "Any of the pool-based sports! Swimming, synchronized swimming, and diving."
Mary Lou: "I enjoy the gymnastics. Mainly because I have a dear friend who is a gymnast and a gymnastic coach who recently built her own gym way up in the northern part of Maine (a life long dream she has finally fulfilled). So it is nice to chat on the phone with her while we watch an event or two."
