CES Happenings
Dear CES Family,
Hello to you all. Well, Easter vacation is upon us. It's a well-deserved break for everyone and hopefully the time off will charge everyone's batteries as we gear up for the last two months of the school year.
I have a couple of things for you this week:
- Kindergarten Round-Up takes place on Thursday, April 24th, from 9:30-11:00. This also includes TK registration as well! Please help us spread the word. See the flyer below for details.
- There has been much continued discussion regarding the fiscal situation of the Plumas Unified School District. You should have recently received a Parent Square message from Interim Superintendent Jim Frost that contains the most current update on where we stand. If not, I've included it down below. What's the impact on CES for the 2025-2026 school year? We have a few impacts on support staff that we are not looking forward to. There are no reductions to our teaching staff. As for the 2026-2027 school year, there will need to be some significant changes to district-wide operations in order for PUSD to be solvent financially. I will keep you updated as things progress.
A great vacation week to all of you!
Sincerely,
Scott Cory
Principal
P.S. The beautiful Easter artwork in the picture was done by the fourth grade and Kindergarten buddy classes.

PUSD Fiscal Updates: Resource Page
This message recently came out from our interim superintendent as a Parent Square message to all parents:
Understanding Our Fiscal Recovery
Plumas Unified School District is currently working closely with the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team (FCMAT) as we address serious financial challenges. As part of this process, the district may enter into a state receivership in order to stabilize our financial operations and ensure long-term sustainability.
To keep our community informed and involved, we’ve created a Fiscal Recovery Resource Page. You can find the FCMAT Management Letter as well as the FCMAT Board Presentation from the April 9 board meeting posted there. FCMAT is creating a page on their website specifically for PUSD updates, and that will be added to our resource page as soon as it is live on their end.
FCMAT Management Letter to PUSD 4.6.25 CORRECTED
FCMAT Board Presentation 4.9.25
We are committed to transparency and will continue updating this page as new information becomes available.

Instructional Calendars
For those of you who like to plan stuff way in advance (you know who you are), click here to access the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 PUSD Instructional Calendars. We ask that you please consider planning family vacations to coincide with non-school days. It makes a huge difference in your child's education. Thank you!
PUSD Budget Deficit
There has been a lot of talk about the fiscal status of the Plumas Unified School District, and with good reason. As a result, you may have an interest in attending and or participating in school board meetings either in person or via Zoom. Please click on the QR code for both locations and instructions on how to access meetings via Zoom, along with the agenda for each meeting of the Board of Education for PUSD.
