🎻 Holiday Concert Brings Together 6th-12th Grade Orchestras 🎄
The Sedro-Woolley High School auditorium was filled with holiday cheer on Wednesday as our combined 6th-12th grade orchestras delivered a spectacular performance. Highlights included the Beginning Orchestra joining the high school orchestra for Jingle Bells, showcasing their holistic approach to learning under Director Poul Brask. CMS Intermediate and Advanced Orchestras wowed with pieces like Shiver, Dragonhunter, and Frosty the Snowman. The evening concluded with the Sedro-Woolley High School Chamber Orchestra performing favorites like Jupiter from The Planets and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
Special thanks to the parent group for the cookies that sweetened this memorable evening!
Scale Drawing Project
Seventh-grade students in Maddie Jones and Erin Rose’s math classes at Cascade Middle School are applying math concepts through a scale drawing project.
Using cartoons and comics from donated Skagit Valley Herald newspapers, students enlarged their selected images to fit an 8.5x11-inch sheet of paper. The project required students to calculate the ratio of the original comic’s length and height to the dimensions of the larger paper, determining the largest whole-number scale factor possible.
The activity provided a hands-on way for students to practice using ratios and proportions in a real-world context.
Tree falls at Central
Early Wednesday morning, a tree fell in front of the steps at Central Elementary School, causing damage to one of the light poles and the handrail on one side. Fortunately, no one was injured.
