Learner Profile for September - Caring
There was a great deal of caring this week at school. One story was of 2 first graders. One had lost his valuable medal on the playground and was looking for it. A peer noticed and helped him look for it. And she found it for him. The power of teamwork!
Another recess moment of caring happened in 5th grade football. All of the students playing were careful to include everyone in the game and stick to the rules. They took care of one another by playing fair as well as supporting one another when they made a great play. Way to go, football players!
What's Happening in PE
Greetings from the physical education team. The start of the year is exciting in so many ways and as we welcome back students into the gym, we begin the year exploring classroom expectations, practicing procedures and learning how to work together to help make class feel fun and inclusive for all. To help students get the most out of PE, please remind your student to bring sneakers to school on PE days. Some highlights from our first couple weeks have been team building activities with our 3rd-5th grade students, and lots of animal movement games with our K-2nd grade students. We will continue working on basic movements and listening skills, and soon we will be exploring tumbling and soccer as our first official units start on Sept. 16th.
News from the Library & Book Exchange Times
The library is open every day and students can exchange books at any time (with teacher permission). Every class has at least one scheduled visit to the library each week. You can help your child remember their library books on the following days:
Monday- Sears, Bibb
Tuesday- Raymond, Poulin, Schondube, Franny Gould, Adam Gould, Levesque
Wednesday- Baird, Collins, Bibb, Ceci, Sears, Flint, Leavitt, Conklin
Thursday- Mosquera, Sinopoli, Thacker, Payne, Adam Gould
Friday- McColly, Burke, Franny Gould, Corrigan, Schondube, Wisnowski
Student Arrival
The Early Breakfast arrival at 7.50am is available for all students who want to get an early breakfast. Students should enter the building through the South Gym door - across the porch from the main entrance. They go directly from Early Breakfast to their classes when the bell rings.
Siblings may enter the building together at whichever entrance works best for the siblings.
We ask that all families say goodbye to their children at the entrances starting on Monday 9/9. Please be thinking about how you can say bye to your child and talk with them about this. There will be staff to support Kindergarteners getting to their rooms next week so no one will lose their way.
We are working hard to keep our students safe. This means limiting the number of people in the building and following a visitor procedure. This helps keep all of our students safe. Thank you for your help with this.
If your child arrives after 8.10, they will need to enter through the main entrance.
