THMS Student Update
March 2025
Dear Badger Community,
Welcome to the last week of our Third Quarter!
On Monday, March 3rd, our TUSD Bond Program will begin a project to replace the lights in our Football Stadium. To access our field they will need to use the Junior Parking Lot on the South Side of the West Gym. There will be no parking available in the Junior lot on Monday. We are looking forward to enjoying our new lights within a few weeks!
There will be No School this Friday, March 7th, as it is Grading Day. Please look for updated grades in StudentVUE beginning March 10th.
Our Spring Break will be March 10th - March 14th and our campus will be closed during that time.
Our Fourth Quarter is very busy with many activities leading up to our Graduation of the Class of 2025. It is important for ALL students to attend school on time, every day, and put forth their best effort in all of their classes. Stay focused, Badgers!
Best,
Catherine Comstock
Interim Principal,

Construction at 9th Street and Euclid Coming Soon!
Head's Up, Drivers!
The CIty of Tucson has informed us that construction will begin at the intersection of 9th Street and Euclid Avenue later this month. Hopefully having this information will help our drivers select a different route to school.
This project includes removing the existing HAWK crossing that is currently at this location and replacing it with a TOUCAN crossing, which will improve safety for everybody who passes through the intersection, improve traffic flow after Tucson High dismissal, and allow for pedestrians and bicyclists to cross simultaneously using dedicated signals. The updates to the crossing will include a wider crossing area, combined signals, and improved bicyclist accessibility.
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 17, 2025, with removal of curb and underground utility investigations. During this work, lane restrictions on Euclid Avenue will be in place between 10th Street and 8th Street and left turns will be prohibited. Parking on 9th Street both west and east of Euclid Avenue will not be allowed in the work zone, and no parking signs will be placed ahead of work. This project is expected to be completed by mid-June 2025.
African American Student Services Student Advisory Council
Congratulations to THMS students Karen Opolu-Appoh and Aimee Brown who were selected to be a part of the African and African American Student Services Student Advisory Council (SAC). The SAC is facilitated in collaboration with Asian Pacific American and Refugee Student Services. Students were selected after completing a competitive process. Being part of SAC entails receiving and providing mentorship, advocacy, leadership development, college and career preparation, and a paid summer internship through THe AASS department. Over the last year, SAC members have completed more than 100 hours each of mentoring and tutoring elementary students, completed paid internships, received mentoring from University of Arizona medical students, and served in a variety of community events and panels. We are proud of that our students are members of this council!

STEP Class of 2027
STEP College-Prep Program
Congratulations to Lysette Martinez and Edmundo Chaboya on their acceptance into STEP's Class of 2027! Out of over 290 applicants, only 123 students were selected for this year’s program, and we are incredibly proud of them for being chosen. STEP is a prestigious two-year college readiness program designed to help students navigate the application process for some of the nation’s top colleges and universities. Participants in the program benefit from a range of resources, including monthly workshops, standardized test preparation, financial aid workshops, college campus visits, and more. We are honored to have students from Tucson High represented in such an esteemed program and eagerly anticipate seeing which college they choose in their senior year.
TUSD Bond Program
Exciting News for Tucson Unified Schools!
The Tucson Unified School District is thrilled to announce that Davis Bilingual Elementary Magnet School, Rincon / University High School, and Tucson High Magnet School will soon see significant improvements in their instructional learning spaces, thanks to the support of the Bond Oversight Committee, the Tucson Unified Governing Board, and Tucson community. At Davis and Rincon/University, the bond program will replace portable classrooms with modern, permanent learning spaces for students. For Tucson High, the bond program will focus on long-awaited renovations and repairs to the Vocational “V” Building modernizing classrooms spaces for students.
The conceptual and design-build phase will run from February 2025, through June 2025. During this time, the Design-Build team will collaborate with each school’s administration to provide conceptual classroom designs for new learning spaces to meet both current and future enrollment needs.
Construction is expected to be completed by the 2027-2028 school year, providing students and staff with state-of-the-art facilities to support their educational journey.
Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project as we work together to create better learning spaces for our community!
