Dear Northwest Families,

Friday is the first day of our final exams and we are preparing for a great finish to our first semester. Please see the reminder below from our office staff regarding attendance during final exams. We hope our students will take advantage of the additional time with teachers structured in our final exam schedules. If there is a need to excuse your student, please follow instructions in the section below to ensure a quiet testing and learning environment for all of our students.

Today we met with our sophomore students and shared an overview of a variety of programs available during their enrollment. We had a panel of junior and senior students that shared information from a variety of programs they selected for their plans of study. Those programs ranged from automotive technology, wood design, Advanced Placement (AP), College Now, International Baccalaureate (IB), and programs at the Center for Academic Achievement and Career and Technical Campus. Students received a handout with additional details.

We will have multiple opportunities for students to learn more about the courses available to them throughout the month of January. During seminar on January 17th, we host our Course Exploration Rotations. Students attend six sessions to gather information about courses directly from the teacher. Students have an opportunity to ask questions throughout the process.

We are so grateful for our amazing Northwest Community. We hope you all enjoy a wonderful and relaxing break!

Quarter 3 begins January 5

Just a reminder that we will not be taking parent phone calls or releasing students from class during scheduled finals. If your student needs to leave during the school day, please send a note with your student with their name and dismissal time scheduled between classes.

They will need a note each time they leave the building early during the three final days. The student will give the note to an administrator as they exit the building.

Student Athletes must attend the full day to participate in activites after school.

Students may not return to the building or ride the bus if released early.

We appreciate your support of this process to help us provide the best opportunity for student success!

Please review semester 2 schedules with your student for accuracy and updates as there have been some minor adjustments. If there is an error or requested change, please notify the academic counselor prior to the winter break. No changes can be made to semester 2 schedules in January.

EARLY GRADS

Seniors who are graduating in December will need to visit the counseling office to pick up their check out forms. Completed forms will be returned to Mrs. Jones by Tuesday, December 20th.
