Welcome Back
This week has been amazing. In one of my first newsletters of the year, I mentioned how the school just did not feel like a school during the summer when I started. This feeling was no different last week as I sat in my office (getting tons of work done), but it just did not feel like a school without the noise of students. I was very excited this past Monday when all of our students and staff arrived back. We had a great week, even with the discovery of the graffiti.
As an update to our findings, we had originally planned on having our whole-grade assemblies today, but we needed to postpone until Monday. The reason for this is really simple. We needed more time to plan out our gathering. Many teachers/grades had long-standing activities and we wanted to be mindful of the needs of our classes as well. Planning gatherings like this, especially for this type of reason, is highly important, but a tricky balance. We are also continuing to explore other opportunities such as guest speakers and in-school projects that focus on kindness, inclusion, and acceptance. I will share more in my future updates.
Caregiver Alert
It has been brought to our attention that there seems to be a new trend with students who have been accessing the FanDuel sports gambling site. I am not entirely sure how this is happening, but there is a buzz among the students about using it.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. Thanks for your partnership!
Keith
