Band to Perform at Music For All Festival on Wednesday
We are so proud of our symphonic band students and directors. They have been selected to perform at the Music for All Festival at Georgia State University this week.
In an ongoing partnership, Music for All and Georgia State University collaborate together to present the Southeastern Regional Concert Festival for bands. This Festival is an integral part of their ongoing work to advance student excellence and to support advocacy of music and arts education.
Being invited is the achievement! The Festival’s non-competitive atmosphere provides a place for growth, cooperative encouragement and mutual respect among music programs, students, parents, boosters, and administrators. There are no ratings or rankings so directors and their ensembles are free to stretch themselves, reach for new heights, and strive for innovation, growth and excellence, instead of focusing on a rating or placing.
Participating students experience an atmosphere of mutual respect while enjoying concerts from other outstanding ensembles. Ensembles that perform at the Festival are recognized as being among the finest in the Southeastern Region of the United States. Participation is a “credential” worth having.

PTA Needs YOU!
As we gear up for the 2024-2025 school year, we are excited to announce that nominations are now open for key leadership positions within our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). We are looking for dedicated individuals to step into the roles of Co-President, Secretary, and Vice President of Communications.
These positions are crucial in shaping the direction of our PTA and making a positive impact on our school community. If you are passionate about supporting our students and enhancing their educational experience, we encourage you to consider running for one of these roles.
Nominations will be accepted through the end of March, with voting set to take place at our last PTA meeting of the year on April 10th. To nominate yourself or someone else, please send your submissions to trmsptapresident@gmail.com. Your involvement is vital to the success of our PTA, and we look forward to working together to make a difference at Taylor Road Middle School.
FCS Parent Survey Communication
Subject: School Nutrition Evaluation Survey
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The Department of Program Evaluation is currently evaluating the FCS School Nutrition Program. As part of this evaluation, we are surveying students in 3rd – 12th grades about their experiences, preferences, and opinions about school nutrition.
FCS has contracted with Gibson Consulting to evaluate this program and conduct the survey. All survey information is anonymous and will be used to guide decision-making to improve the FCS School Nutrition Program.
The survey will open on March 25th and will take no more than 10 minutes to complete. As a parent or guardian, you have the right to view the survey questions in advance. Please contact your student’s principal if you have any questions or concerns. Please get in touch with your child’s principal if you wish to view the survey questions.
Please note that the district is also conducting a survey on school security at the same time. Thus, if you have a student in a different school, they may take that survey instead. The district used random selection to assign each school only one survey for their students to take to reduce the number of surveys we ask of students.
Thank you.
On Monday, April 8, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk. This is an exciting and significant event from both an instructional and a safety perspective, respectively.
In the Atlanta area, we will experience an 80% partial solar eclipse. The partial eclipse will begin at 1:08 p.m., hit maximum at 3:04 p.m., and end at approximately 4:21 p.m. It is essential that all students, parents, and staff understand the safety concerns connected with this exciting event.
Keeping safety in mind, Fulton County is providing all students and staff with solar eclipse glasses. We will be going over the expectation of wearing the safety glasses outside and the importance of not looking directly at the eclipse without the glasses on as it can cause permanent damage to the retina of the eye.
If you would like to enjoy this experience as a family and view the eclipse outdoors, please plan to check out your student prior to 1:00 p.m. Absences and early check-outs on Monday, April 8 will be marked excused.
The Spring Shop is now open!

I am here at your service to help your child with navigating the challenges of academic life while also addressing personal emotional needs can be overwhelming. I am returning for my second year here at TRMS and am thrilled to continue to do great and impactful work with our students. During my tenor at TRMS I have collaboratively worked with administration and teachers to provide individual, group and famly services for TRMS community.
As a therapist I Can Help:
🌟 Individualized Support: I recognize that every student is unique. With one-on-one sessions tailored to each student's personal experiences, allowing for a deep exploration of thoughts and feelings.
🌟 Anxiety and Stress Management: From exam jitters to social pressures, anxiety can take a toll on a student's well-being. I’m working to equip students with practical strategies to manage anxiety and stress effectively.
🌟 Depression Coping Skills: Depression can cast a shadow over even the brightest moments. Our therapist provides tools and techniques to help students regain a sense of control, build resilience, and find joy in their daily lives.
🌟 Emotional Awareness: Our therapist guides students in understanding their emotions, helping them to recognize triggers and respond to challenging situations in healthy ways.
🌟 Supportive Environment: Sometimes, all it takes is a listening ear. Therapy can create a judgment-free space where students can express themselves openly and honestly.
Mental health matters. I believe that seeking support is a sign of strength, and I’m here to help break down stigmas associated with mental health challenges. By providing an accessible platform for students to engage in conversations about their well-being, we aim to create a culture of acceptance, empathy, and understanding.
How to Get Started:
Speak to Your Child: Initiate a conversation with your child about their feelings and emotions. Let them know that our therapist is here to provide guidance and support.
